Situated in Italy's "golden triangle", where the three provinces of Lazio, Tuscany and Umbria meet, Casa Le Crete is a charming farmhouse where the beauty of the landscape converges with the rich history of the region.
The house is well positioned in the middle of the Orvieto Classico wine region just outside the hills of Ficulle, an ancient city whose roots date back to the Etruscan civilization. The location provides a chance for wine enthusiasts to savor the local wines that are a product of the sun-kissed hills and the fertile lands that surround the house. Ficulle, with its ancient roots dating bak to the Etruscan civilization, adds a layer of historical richness to the experience.
Its privileged position atop a slope gives the villa undisturbed 360 degree panoramic views and is reached by a private access road. A place to slow down, relax, observe and discover the riches of Umbria.
Note: It is recommended to have a midsize car for the small roads and towns. The last kilometer to the house is a white road (unpaved).
Staying at Casa Le Crete is a journey through time and culture, where every corner of the farmhouse tells a story, and every view from its windows frames a piece of the Italian countryside's timeless beauty.
It's not just a place to vacation; it's an immersion into the soul of Italy.
The interior is a mix of antique furniture from local markets, modern pieces without pretensions and artistic decoration that reflects the cultural tapestry of the area.
The farmhouse is made up of two separate residences (La Dolce Villa, which is the owners' home and La Dolce Vista, which is the rental property. Together they make up Casa Le Crete. Complete privacy is guaranteed as the owners are never in residence when the property is rented
The two renovated floors of 120 sq m. the farmhouse is located on a hill with spectacular views in an oasis of peace surrounded by 4,250 m2 of land with vineyard and swimming pool
The living room, a haven of comfort, opens up through French doors to reveal a splendid view of the countryside and the glistening swimming pool. A comfortable sofa and wicker armchairs create a cozy retreat, complemented by a wood stove in the corner, promising warmth and relaxation in the cooler months.
Outside, a rustic wooden table and chairs invite you to savor a glass of wine, the company of loved ones, and the beauty of the landscape.
Stepping into the kitchen and dining room the antique oak table can host family and friends gathered around to share and make memories. The kitchen stands ready for your culinary creations. Or should you wish to indulge in the culinary expertise of Grazia, the option for home cooked meals or even a cooking class awaits.
A bedroom with double bed is located on the ground floor with your private ensuite bathroom. The color scheme of forest green and lavender soothes the spirit. Vintage botanical prints collected by the owners are displayed on the walls.
As you look through the French doors your private patio reveals itself, offering another panoramic view of the surrounding olive trees and grapevines. A great place for an early morning cappuccino.
The Second floor consists of two bedrooms and bathroom at the end of the corridor.
The master bedroom is large and spacious with a queen size bed. The artwork adorning the walls is not just decoration but a gallery of original pieces, painted with love and creativity by the family members.
The second bedroom, the 'Vespa room' in light of its transportation theme, is set up to accommodate two children. Versatile and accommodating, the beds can be pushed together for couples or left individually for children, ensuring that every guest find their perfect space.
At the end of the hallway, a large second bathroom beckons.
For your convenience, the washing machine is housed in the technical room just outside the house. Two drying racks stand ready, embracing the Italian tradition of sun-dried freshness.
In the upstairs master bedroom a ceiling fan ensures a gentle breeze.
Three additional fans are also available. The elevation of the property and the absence of any surrounding homes ensures a breeze.

About the host
Hosted by Lisa DeNunzio

Ciao tutti e benvenuti nel nostro site. My name is Lisa Nanna DeNunzio. My husband, Arturo, and I are second-generation Italian Americans originally from New York who became fascinated with our Italian roots and history. After years of traveling to Italy, my husband and I have purchased a farmhouse in Umbria. Courageous or crazy?

Why they chose this property
Our first instinct was to buy a ‘city home’ in Firenze or Lucca that could be rented when we were at our home in Coral Gables. However, after looking at several properties in various locations in Tuscany it became evident that city living offered little opportunity for outdoor space (or much space) as well as precious little light. After living in Florida for the past 38 years la luce (the light) is an integral part of my existence and something I cannot do without. So after a disappointing start, we threw our net further afield and ventured into the countryside of Umbria to search for a place to live.
When we found Via dei Colli Realtors through Italy Magazine and we began our correspondence, we had no idea where it would lead. Stefano began putting together a myriad of homes within our price range that my husband and I would visit when we arrived in Italy. He organized a trip, ‘in giro’ (around) to visit several properties. As we disembarked the train from Firenze to Chiusi we were met by Stefano, a source of knowledge, comfort, and assurance, and the principal of the company.
And so off we went. We drove the back roads of Tuscany weaving into Umbria and visited an apartment in Citta della Pieve. As lovely and scenic as this stone city was, we still felt the need for more light and green space. Then Piero announced that a property that had been under contract had come back on the market. Even though it was larger than we had desired, it was priced well and certainly worth a look.

What makes this property unique
In Peter Mayle’s evocative memoir, ‘A Year in Provence’, Mr. Mayle writes,
“We saw the house in the afternoon
and had mentally moved in by dinner”
That was our reaction when we found Le Crete in Ficulle, Umbria. In short, even though we visited the house only one time and with an overcast sky, the view took our breath away. We simply knew it would be a wonderful home for our family to gather and make wonderful memories together.
