La Maison du Jardin, a two bedroomed cottage, with amazing views and sunsets.
La Grange is situated in the beautiful Perigord Vert region of Dordogne. It is an ideal property for families, with enclosed gardens and pool, ensures young children have the freedom of the garden, whilst adults have various areas where they can relax, read, write, enjoy an evening aperitif whilst watching the sun go down. La Grange, in the Perigord Vert, offers a choice of two holiday cottages, La Maison du Jardin, (sleeps 4), and La Taniere, (sleeps up to 6), overlooking a peaceful central courtyard, each with easy access to the swimming pool. Set in 8 acres of mature grounds and with beautiful views over the Perigordian countryside, La Grange is the ideal location for a relaxing holiday. The area offers a variety of attractions and facilities for those looking for activity or you can simply enjoy the wine and gastronomy for which the region is famous.
La Grange is situated between Verteilllac and Bertric Buree, famous for it's snail festival in May. They are both within walking distance!
Verteillac boasts 3 restaurants, two bars, butcher, baker, bank and yes Merlaud, (also sell the candles),which sells everything from vegetables to garden furniture!! Oh and a great outdoor swimming pool. There are summer night food markets, which must be experienced! A must see and do!!
Going through the arch of the property, one enters the beautiful courtyard of La Grange, you will find La Taniere, on the right, and hidden away from the main building you will find the pretty two bedroomed gite, La Maison du Jardin. It is an ideal place to be, as you can be active or spend your time relaxing, whilst children play. It is a wonderful chance to spend time in a very old building, La Grange, an old tobacco farm, dating back over 400 years. It is part of the Pilgrim's Way, with a symbol of a chalice and cross cut into the apex of the house, a sign of safety and welcome to the wandering pilgrims.
There is plenty to do, and visit, if you need days out. We are within a short drive of La Jamaye, lakes and woodland for swimming, walking and bird watching, Aubeterre a beautiful historic village, Riberac for it's colourful Friday market. Big towns Perigueux and Angouleme, are worth a visit. Cognac and Bergerac for wine and cognac tasting.
La Maison du Jardin is set slightly back from the main courtyard, with its own private summer dining area. This is a very pretty cottage covered in roses. The accommodation, on a single level, consists of an airy living/dining room with an open plan, well equipped, kitchen. There are two bedrooms (one double, one twin) and a shower room. The living area has exposed beams and an imposing stone fireplace with a wood burning stove. There is satellite television, with a DVD player and a music centre. We have a large selection of DVDs. There is WiFi access. There is a laundry room equipped with automatic washing machine and tumble dryer. La Grange offers plenty of space for children to run around.

A wonderful property
We were welcomed by the owners who were very helpful. The accommodation was lovely and comfortable. We had a great view across the countryside, from the outside seating area, lounge and bedroom. The pool was a good overall size we swam every day, and enjoyed relaxing and discovering the local villages, towns and cities. Thank you so much..

About the host
Hosted by La Grange
Dave comes from West Yorkshire, but has spent much of his working life living abroad, in places such as South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia and now France. I come from London, lived up north for a while, then moved to Reading. I too, love to travel, and we have had many adventures visiting various parts of the world
Why they chose this property
We both lived very hectic lives in the UK, so when the opportunity to move to France arose we jumped at it, and have never looked back. We feel very fortunate to have found such a wonderful property. We fell in love with it as soon as we saw it. You enter a very pretty courtyard, with a weeping willow, being the centre piece. The main house is situated to the left and La Taniere, a very unusual house situated to the right.Above the courtyard and away from the main property is La Maison du Jardin. Each part of our property is very different.
What makes this property unique
The property is built around a pretty courtyard, with gardens flowing up and away from the main property, leading to the heated swimming pool. The views from various spots are amazing, watching the sunset and if an early riser the sunrise, are both something to behold.
The property is situated on a hill and we have a wonderful view across the Sauvenie Valley. We can watch the sunset from the front of the house and the sunrise from our breakfast terrace. Perfect! It is both idyllic and peaceful within a rural environment, so much open space..... quite wonderful!
