This place was amazing, beautiful home, well organized, completely stocked with everything you could need and an absolutely stunning view and island! I loved it there!
Boat Dock: serviceable but needs repair--tie down cleats missing or are pulling out of wood. For older men like me, steps are needed between upper and lower docks. Lighting needed on dock.
Everything else was great. Most supplies were on hand and easy to find.
Very enjoyable stay!

Stunning views of falling leaves make for a perfect vacation.
We needed a COVID break for my wife who cares for her aging parents and also for me, a beleaguered business owner. We felt this was the perfect get-away. We brought our own food (amateur home chef) and never went out for a single meal. The remoteness was lovely although there is a well traveled road which the ATV's on the island cruise day and night, right next to the cottage. Hunters woke us up one morning with a fusillade of gunfire for a couple of hours. But on weekdays when the weekenders leave, there is nothing more quiet and relaxing than this place. It is very homey and well cared for, with all of the modern comforts except one... Wi-Fi. That is something most folks will not want to be without. We found plenty to keep us occupied but no Wi-Fi is something to consider when booking the property. The property was just as advertised and while the cleaning crew didn't leave it perfect, it was good enough for a cottage on an island. Yep, it was just fine. This owner has a precious piece of heaven they are willing to share, so I have nothing but thanks for letting us visit.

Thanks for your response. Sorry it was hunting season when you stayed. I agree that wi-fi is sometimes missed but most of the time we are out on the river or relaxing so using our phone hot spot seems to work just fine. So glad you enjoyed your stay. Waking up and looking out at the river is good for the soul.
The house was perfect for the six of us. Clean, comfortable and great views of the river. Beautiful sunrises. Convenient location to all of the things we wanted to do.. but you are going to want a boat!
Excellent choice. Beautiful property, well furnished. The water in the Bay in front of the property was always calm even on windy days. Great place for tubing and swimming. The dock was easy to get into with our 22 foot boat and Clayton was just a few minute trip across the river. Nice quiet neighborhood.
This beautiful property overlooking Aunt Jane’s Bay is nothing short of gorgeous. Our family spent the week reading, fishing from the dock and enjoying the beautiful view…. Especially the morning sunrise from the window and back deck. We rented a boat for the week and took advantage of days at Potter Beach and trips to surrounding attractions in Clayton and Alexandria Bay. We also enjoyed Mountain Bike rides and runs through the very quiet carriage style roads of Grindstone Island. If you come in on Friday, be sure to visit the Browns Farm Stand not to far down the road on Saturday morning from 10-1. The house is wonderful with a large open space living room, kitchen table and kitchen to share time together. Beyond happy with our stay and quiet quality family time together. We only hope to return again soon. Thank you Robin for sharing your beautiful family paradise.
Grindstone island is such a unique place. So beautiful and peaceful. House was right on the water with dock, easy access on and off the water. House was well stocked, with lots of game and toys for our four year old son. We enjoyed sitting on the bench in front of the large front window and looking out at the river.
Robin was a great communicator as far as answering all of my questions and responding to emails in a timely manner. Her house was clean, cozy and stocked with all the comforts of home. We enjoyed the beautiful views from her property, especially from the bay window that overlooks the water. The place was spacious enough for our group of eight people and one very active dog. Thanks for a fun vacation - it was an adventure for sure!
This is a beautiful place on a quiet island. The cottage has everything. Our kids loved all the board games. They learned how to fish. Clayton is very close by boat so it was easy to go there for provisions. We will definitely be back.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Should have stayed two weeks. Beautiful home with great sunrises. Great place to relax. It has a nice sheltered dock. Robin answered our questions right away. Thanks for a lovely stay.

We stayed in the house for Labor Day weekend and it was perfect! The house was exactly what the pictures showed. And we were able to meet some locals that made the stay that much better. We didn’t have our own boat for transportation so we used RJ Marine service most of the time. Overall the house and island was amazing, we will definitely be back again.
The second year was even better than the first knowing all the ins and outs of the beautiful cottage and property. Spotless, beautiful decor, wonderful beds! Planning for next year!
My family just spent a week at this beautiful cottage. Location, location, location. A short boat ride from Clayton. The area is breathtaking. The cottage was clean, and spacious and provided a gorgeous view of the lake. It comfortably accommodated all of us. A great stay!
