About this property
Ashdale, Thornham, Norfolk
Nestled quietly away overlooking the marsh, in the pretty coastal village of Thornham, Ashdale is a beautifully relaxed link-detached cottage providing wonderful marshland views to the sea and is a peaceful escape to retreat to for either a weekend break or longer holiday.
This pretty cottage is in one of the best spots in Thornham and offers a wonderful escape from everyday life. The owner has taken great care to furnish the cottage with luxury linens and soft furnishings to make it somewhere special to come and stay. Not only is it a gloriously comfortable and welcoming cottage, it also has the added bonus of being in easy walking distance of the harbour and beach, as well as three fabulous pub/restaurants, an award-winning deli which serves yummy breakfasts and lunches and great coffee, a fishmonger and smokehouse and probably the best fish and chip restaurant around, so you can literally park the car up and not have to take it out again if you don't want to!
Open the door to Ashdale and you're greeted with a spacious boot room, leading into a fabulously stylish and well-equipped shaker-style painted kitchen with a farmhouse table and chairs. The sitting room is cosy and comfortable with a wall-mounted fire and huge squashy sofa to relax on, making it perfect for creating holiday togetherness. With french doors to the terrace, you can let the sunshine in. The owners have thought of everything and there is even a little study desk at the foot of the stairs if you have to keep in touch with the outside world whilst you are away. Ashdale has three beautifully-appointed bedrooms. The master bedroom has a fabulous boutique feel with large headboard and super king-size bed, pretty pom-pom edged curtains and plenty of storage. Plus of course it provides some gorgeous views of the marsh and sea. The second bedroom is decadent and has twin beds, whilst the third double bedroom is equally stylish. And with two bathrooms, it makes it easy for everyone to get up and out on a morning too.
If you're lucky, you might just see the barn owl that swoops over the marsh on a morning and evening just a few feet from the cottage, but of course you can see plenty more at the RSPB nature reserves which can be found at Titchwell and Snettisham or the NWT reserve at neighbouring Holme-next-the-Sea.
