Chez Nous Zermatt - 4 luxury apartments in same building with Matterhorn views

Angus Potter and Lizzie Orange set up Chez Nous Zermatt to offer our guests a luxury holiday rental experience that feels more personal – more like staying with a friend than in a “vacation home”.   

L'Etoile is the newest addition to the Chez Nous Zermatt group. Named after a pretty little peak to the west of Zermatt, this is a truly pretty one bedroom apartment (and can sleep 3 people if you use the sofa bed). The apartment has lovely views straight out on to The Matterhorn.

Great care has been taken to create a truly welcoming atmosphere: the apartment has a bright and sunny kitchen/living room and the generous balcony that wraps around the building (with access from the bedroom and the living room) adds to the feeling of space as you look out at the view. There is one double bedroom (with a superking-sized bed) and the sofa in the living room can also be used a sofa bed. The 65" home cinema system is complete with all UK channels and Apple TV and the dining area comfortably seats 6 people so you can enjoy meals at home and then in the evenings (or on bad weather days) you can get cosy watching a film or reading your book and when it is time to sleep the beds are super-comfortable. We also make sure that "the basics" are in stock so that you can make tea/coffee and have a glass of wine without having to go shopping straight away!

If you are part of a larger group of family and friends then combining L'Etoile with one of our other apartments can allow you all to be together in the same building but free to retreat to your own space when needed. See our other listings for Le Corbassiere (sleeps 6), The Mischabel (sleeps 6-8) and Le Petit (sleeps 4).

All the Chez Nous Zermatt apartments have 180 degree views straight out on to The Matterhorn, over towards Gornergrat and up the Trift valley . One of the only remaining fields in the village is just in front of us which gives a welcome feeling of space despite being so close to all the restaurants, the church bridge and the lift stations/bus.

Lizzie and Angus have lived in Zermatt for the last 10 years and will help you get as much as possible organised before you arrive (ski schools, restaurant reservations, lift passes, help with child care etc) so that you are free to enjoy your holiday. Once you get here you will be met at the station and brought up to your apartment by electro-taxi and our on-the-ground concierge will help you settle in and will be on hand to help with any questions throughout your stay.

The only practical point to bear in mind is that direct access to our building from street level (when you arrive and leave) is down 3 flights of stairs. However once your luggage is installed most guests then use the shortcut to the village via a path across the field in front of the house.

We loved coming back to this apartment after skiing

Lizzie was great about keeping us up to date on the ski openings and local info. The apartment is lovely, clean and warm. We walked all over town and enjoyed evenings watching TV. Great location to the vernacular to ski to or walk to the best restaurants on the hill, Alder and Chez Vous and Findlerhof. Do not miss these. Apartment was super clean, remember to wear the slippers. We stayed 6 nights and it was one of the best VRBOs we have enjoyed.

Lovely stay in Zermatt

Stayed at this wonderful one bedroom apartment in Zermatt. Everything was clean and updated. Appreciated the nice quality bedding and towels. Kitchen is fully equipped if you choose to do any cooking while on holidays. Having the use of laundry was also very helpful. Just a mention that there are a lot of stairs to access the building, so it might not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

Simply the Best

Staying in Lizzie's home in Zermatt was one of the best decisions we made while planning our trip. We were greeted personally at the train station & escorted to her home, all while being given a list of her favorite places for food & shopping along the way. Incredibly helpful! Her home is this lovely, well appointed, cozy get away that was even more beautiful than the pictures...not something I have often found to be the case. The pictures are often more flattering than the reality. Lizzie's place did not disappoint on any level. The entire building is spotless! So very Swiss. The furnishings in her place are gorgeous. Her home is wonderfully clean & scented comfortingly, so it doesn't carry the odors of "the ghosts of past guests" nor cooking smells from other units. The kitchen is really well appointed, including gorgeous cookery books, a bonus for me as a chef. And the linens in the bedroom are truly beautiful. Another bonus, the shelves in the bedroom are filled with fabulous books, too! However, the ultimate highlight is the view of The Matterhorn! We sat on the deck for every meal & savored this breathtaking sight, along with the sounds of the church bells ringing. Another beautiful thing to note is that Lizzie provides enough coffee, tea, a lovely bottle of wine, gorgeous fruit, chocolates, & a bottle of milk to get you through your first day, or so. Such a kind & generous thing to offer guests while they settle in & get oriented. I would highly recommend staying here. We hope to return to this wonderful place soon!

Wonderful stay great location

Our stay at Chez Nous was seamless. We were met at the train station upon our arrival, taken via taxi to our apartment. Lou was very kind to walk us around the area to include surrounding restaurants, shops, grocery stores, and even showed us where to pick up our ski passes and ski rental equipment. The apartment itself was immaculate particularly with fine attention to detail. We loved the lemon cake and Swiss chocolates! It truly felt like a home away from home. Also having Netflix access was nice since many of the channels were not in English. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was well appointed. The location of the apartment was perfect as we were able to walk anywhere we needed to go. We will absolutely be back. Thank you so much Lizzie and Lou for having us, we look forward to coming back next year!

perfect place!

We visited Zermatt in early January for a week of skiing. We chose Chez Nous based on the positive reviews. We were not disappointed. The place is spotless with a very well equipped kitchen. One could easily cook a 5 course meal, but then again one would miss all of the great restaurants in Zermatt! The place was a perfect size for two. There might have been a pull out couch to accommodate two more, but that would make for close quarters. That is definitely a personal preference, however. Excellent sound system and an enormous flat screen TV if one needs some couch time after skiing The location of Chex Nous is ideal. Close to the station for the local bus that circles Zermatt frequently and within easy walking distance to the different lift stations. There is a small grocery that is about a 2 minute walk and a larger store that is about 10 minute walk. A number of excellent restaurants and bars are also an easy walk from Chez Nous. Lou and Lizzie were great hosts, responsive to questions by both email and text. They can also help with dinner recommendations and reservations. Hopefully we will be back some day! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

I had a wonderful stay in this cozy place. The entire building, including the accommodation, was super clean and well decorated. I has been greeted personally at the train station and escorted to the entrance. Something definitely memorable was the preparation of sufficient goods that will help you to get you through your first day. Everything went smoothly and it felt more like a second home. Mind Blowing apartment

Our favorite property in Switzerland! We absolutely loved the property. Extremely well furnished - top of the line and very well thought off. Infact we have taken tips on how to furnish our house, after seeing this property. Great view of the matterhorn from the building, 10-15 min from the centre of town. Only con is the approach to the apartment, especially when you are checking out, you need to carry the luggage over a lot of steps. We will return in a heartbeat to this property, it was absolutely brilliant and the family had an absolute blast in the property. Thanks a lot.

I’d give it 6 stars if I could

Simply world class experience from start to finish. Excellent communication with the property owner as well as her property manager/in-town contact who picked us up at the train and gave us the ins and outs of the apartment and the town. The apartment was extremely well appointed and equipped with an amazing attention to detail. And the location was amazing, private and quiet but with quick access to downtown. I really cannot say enough good things about our experience at Chez Nous Zermatt. Just book it, you won’t regret it.

Luxurios und es fehlte an nichts:)

Die Ausstattung ist in den Nasszellen sowie in der Küche ist vollumfänglich. Sogar Bademäntel waren vorhanden. Zum Kochen standen neben Salz und Pfeffer, auch weitere Gewürze zur Verfügung. Man wird am Bahnhof abgeholt und in die Wohnung begleitet. Vielen Dank an die Vermieterin, auch mit Ihrem Stellvertreter hat alles funktioniert. => 5+ Sterne

We have deliberately kept Chez Nous Zermatt small because our experience is that a boutique, owner-managed business is the best way to ensure that our guests get a truly personal service.  We have personally furnished our holiday apartments to create an atmosphere that aims to make you feel at home from the moment you walk in.

Family commitments mean that we now divide our time between the UK and Zermatt but we have a small concierge team on the ground here who know Zermatt well and between us we will make sure you are well looked after during your stay.

Why they chose this property

Initially we ran a small b&b from our own apartment but we now have 4 apartments in this building (the Swiss laws re. foreigners buying property allowed us to buy one and lease the others) and as from Winter 2018/19, Chez Nous has 4 apartments to rent: The Corbassiere which sleeps 6 on the 3rd floor, The Mischabel which sleeps 6-8 on the 2nd floor, Le Petit which sleeps 4 on the 1st floor and now L'Etoile a 1 bedroomed apartment also on the 1st floor next to Le Petit.

We offer our guests the freedom of a self-catered holiday combined with the feel and warmth of staying in someone else's home. We have completely re-furnished the flats to create an atmosphere that aims to make you feel at home from the moment you walk in.

What makes this property unique

Our apartments are definitely more than just "a rental"; we have created an atmosphere of "home" in all of them and they are filled with lots of the personal touches that we appreciate in places we stay and want to offer our guests.
Our building sits right in the centre of the village but is unique in still having a small field in front of it which sets off the view of The Matterhorn in spectacular fashion.
