Arrived with screwdriver and saw blade in stairs and half done job on gate for stairs. Overall cottage not up to date, more old persons home and grubby around the edges. Cooker was grubby, light didn't work. Toaster only half worked, other half very slow. Dog bowl and dog blankets in living room and kitchen. Not having a dog this felt not set for us. Lots of dog hairs. Ended up eating out lots to avoid eating in. Cost us more as a holiday. Cottage needs a full update/upgrade to fit modern standards like other cottages in Staithes. Disappointing holiday although Staithes itself was lovely.Mirrored wall in bedroom half covered by plastic fronted 1960s/70s cupboard in main bedroom was odd and understandably not on any photos. No shower mixer head on bath, so had to borrow old plastic jug from kitchen to wash our hair. I'm sure the couple who own the cottage are nice, but not what we expected for our holiday. Sorry.
Our stay at this property was so bad that we actually left after the first night there. We were not provided with any check in information and had to ring the property owner to find out how to get into the property just before we arrived. We arrived with our dog and 3 month old daughter and were shocked to find food (melted cheese) dropped onto trays in the oven and sauce splattered in the microwave. I had to clean the kitchen and all items on arrival and all surfaces felt grubby and unclean. The property is run down and shabby. Radiators were rusty and old and the sofas were falling apart and stained. This was not suitable to bring a 3 month old baby too. We were so disappointed. The location is really good but the house needs some TLC and to be cleaned properly.

The cottage was lovely.
The cottage was lovely. For future bookers be aware that (depending on the time of year and weather) there is a lot of foot fall outside the cottage with people accessing the Cleveland Way. From early in the morning until dusk. So if you want a holiday escaping people this would not be the cottage for you!
