This single-storey accommodation in a former barn has been converted from an old grain mill and store. It is very cosy and warm in the winter and cool and airy in the summer. Grain Store 2 provides a well-equipped home from home. Alongside the 50” TV there is a large collection of DVDs and a variety of board games and books.
The courtyard is south facing - ideal for an evening barbeque. The main garden is open to both holiday lets and is also south facing. There are games sets of croquet, badminton & boule available in the summer house. With very low light pollution, there is ample opportunity for star-gazing the dark skies.
Grain Store 2 is situated on the edge of the Roseland Peninsula, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s a walker’s paradise, with flower-filled lanes giving way to stunning coastal scenery. A stroll along the lane brings you to the hamlet of Portholland, a pretty cove with a history of smuggling. The pubs at St Ewe and Tregony are local family and dog friendly pubs, both within a few miles.
Unspoilt sandy beaches, ancient fishing harbours, tiny art galleries, seaside cafes and pubs make this a place with something for everyone. The Hidden Hut, situated close to Portscatho, offers ‘feast nights’ throughout the summer. Kayaking, horse riding, cycling, sailing and fishing are all close by.
This area of Cornwall is renowned for its sub-tropical gardens. Caerhays Castle has featured on numerous TV and feature film dramas and is surrounded by acres of magnificent camellias and magnolias. Many of the plants were originally shipped from China in the 19th century. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are a short drive away where visitors can spend all day wandering through the walled gardens, jungle valley and enjoy watching the heritage breeds at the South West’s first Rare Breed Farm Park. The Eden Project is also nearby, The famous biomes nestling in a reclaimed china clay pit. This amazing complex has a huge indoor rainforest full of exotic planting, waterfalls and treetop walkways. It’s an ecological hub, with themed seasonal events and provides a spectacular setting for regular music events, the Eden Sessions. Charlestown, a frequent location for ’Poldark’, is a few miles away in St Austell. It has a shipwreck centre and offers trips on its famous tall ships. Further afield but easily reached by car or train, the North Coast offers great days out for surfing and visiting the popular destinations of Padstow, Watergate Bay and St Ives.
