This super, unique, detached beach house includes two converted railway carriages, one of only a few to be seen along the south coast and enjoys a fabulous location directly on the seafront. Step onto the pebble beach via your private gate from the enclosed garden and enjoy miles of pebble/sandy beach – a haven for all ages, including children and dogs all year round! From the front it is deceptive, having been substantially extended, but once you approach the side entrance, the original features can be easily seen. Inside, the traditional carriage doors remain, and many of the rooms are set inside the former train carriages. Southern Bell offers tastefully styled, light, and airy holiday accommodation for families - with an enclosed patio garden, plenty of off-road parking and a short walk from the local shops, eateries/pubs, and harbour/sailing club. Hayling Island is renowned for its kitesurfing and sailing activities and local paddle - boarding and windsurfing lessons are available close by. Every year there is a national kitesurfing event, and a plethora of sailing and nautical activity can be seen along the coastline. Many activities can be enjoyed locally, including golf, fishing, cycling, boat trips and scenic walks along the water’s edge or along the South Downs National Park which are within easy reach. Chichester with its beautiful cathedral, festival theatre, pedestrianised shopping, leisure centre, Roman Villa and Goodwood or Fontwell races is worthy of a visit. Visit Portsmouth with waterside dining, ferry trips to the Isle of Wight, designer outlets, leisure facilities, Spinnaker Tower, Historic Dockyard including HMS Victory and the Mary Rose, or the maritime history at Southampton. Winchester, with its cathedral and abbey, and The New Forest are within easy driving distance. Plenty of National Trust homes and gardens can also be discovered nearby. Beach 5 yards. This was one of the best accommodations we have stayed in. The photos represent it exactly and Clive the owner was fantastic.
Good location on the beach and near shops and pubs. I can’t fault anything, we even had sunshine all week.

Amazing property in a lovely area.
Amazing property in a lovely area. It was perfect for taking the dogs. We had a lovely time and would definitely consider returning next year, maybe in the summer if the price isn’t too high. I would recommend southern bell most highly.

Short stay for family of 8 celebrating birthday. Plenty of room. Comfortable beds. Everything you could wish for within the house which is immaculate and so clean.
Great views and being so close to the beach was amazing,
If I had one criticism it would be the outside space/garden. It was small shingle which walked into the house constantly.
It was a really hot weekend, and there was no shade at all. Property would benefit from and awning or at least some umbrellas.
A BBQ would have been great too.
However we would thoroughly recommend, and can’t wait to go back. :-)

We had a lovely time at southern bell.
We had a lovely time at southern bell. The place was great and so close to the beach.The only thing that would of be handy was an awning as there was no shade in the garden.

Owners are truly excellent
If you can afford it and get the weather you'll be very pleased you picked it.
Train theme is fun and different but also the large living space is great to although sofa's low backed so we bring two extra high backed folding chairs with us which also work well outside to. In time the owner plans to provide a raised seating area out back so you can see the sea from the garden area rather than currently the shingle sea defence bank. Two Virgin boxes which gives you freeview and netflix choices and DVD's are very welcome. Good kitchen / bedroom and off road parking.
Great location so quite at night, bliss.
Although all one level you do have one step down and one up going through the hallway where train carriage meet the extensions at each end (if not good on your feet you'll need to be aware). Owner has recently put in a wooden step to reduce the large drop going outside (but if the raise area is built then that will hopefully go)
Nice welcome pack with dogs not being forgotten either
