An excellent location which we've visited several times.
An excellent location which we've visited several times. Lovely location, very friendly owners, and ideally placed to explore the Northern Lakes from. The cottage is cosy, very well maintained and lovely to stay in. An added bonus is the wildlife which includes a wide variety of garden birds and red squirrels in the woods.

A cosy cottage with very solicitous hosts.
A cosy cottage with very solicitous hosts. It's in a great location with good walking nearby; wonderfully placed around the back of Skiddaw but near enough Keswick's shops and with Bassenthwaite village's Sun Inn a half-hour walk away.

Lovely cosy little cottage.
Lovely cosy little cottage. Owners are very friendly and helpful and live next door.
Countryside location surrounded by a pretty garden to sit out in, great for the dogs.
There are red squirrels to be seen in the area, apparently they come in the garden too.
We stayed here for a week and had super weather. Keswick is not far, with a lovely theatre and plenty of shops, amenities and a weekly market.
Pub in the village, which you can walk to.
Only negative would be no washing machine but the owner is happy to allow use of hers, so not a problem.

Cottage is in a beautiful location .
Cottage is in a beautiful location . Downstairs is a little cramped , would’ve been a bit tight with four people . Nice gardens out back , unfortunately we didn’t have the weather to sit out there ! Lots of great walks from Keswick , 20mins drive away.

We had a really lovely holiday at Garries Cottage.
We had a really lovely holiday at Garries Cottage. We loved the more remote location - but not that far from amenities in Keswick or Cockermouth. The owners were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. The cottage is cosy, well equipped and comfortable - and owners happy to help put with clothes washing/drying if needed. Would definitely recommend.

Outdated and overrun with cobwebs .
Outdated and overrun with cobwebs . The place needs a deep clean . The woodland advertised isn’t mature , has no pathways and really isn’t a woodland at all . No peace to be had in the garden due to the crows in the trees . Advertised as no smoking ( as all are ) but when you get there it says no smoking in the grounds too ! The single track road is a nightmare ! The owner is lovely and accommodating , but the cottage needs some work !

A very spacious cottage surrounded by stunning landscapes.
A very spacious cottage surrounded by stunning landscapes. The owners were very friendly and polite. It has its own private woodland which is completely fenced in which was great for the dog to have him off the lead. Red squirrels came straight to the back door.Fantastic walks straight from the front door. Great pub 1 mile away and only 2 miles to the lake. Had a fantastic week will certainly book again.

A small, but very cosy cottage in a superb location.
A small, but very cosy cottage in a superb location. Sufficiently "off the beaten track" to be very quiet and peaceful, but only a short drive to Keswick and ideal for the Lake District fells. Great for dogs: there is a good exercise area within the grounds, and a bridleway leading up to the Cumbrian Way is only a couple of minutes away. Super wildlife - red squirrels were regular visitors when we were there. Also, the Sun Inn in nearby Bassenthwaite village is excellent - and dog-friendly. Highly recommended.
