Bicycles can be stored in the owner’s garage, by pre-arrangement. The River Ouse is part of the cottage garden and is only 300 yards away from the back door, where guests to enjoy freshwater fishing free of charge, no licence is required. Fishing is possible from the steep banks, in a mowed area by the swing, or from any un-mowed areas within the boundary of The Landings Cottage (please note that it is a steep banking and not a wading river). Mooring for 1 boat is available by arrangement. Shop 1/2 mile, pub 2 miles and restaurant 1 mile.

Lovely quality house and garden with lovely riverside setting and it’s very own field for dog to run about in. Great location for York and surrounding towns.
A lovely time in the cottage, which was tastefully decorated for Christmas, including a large real Christmas tree. The AGA was fantastic and the kitchen well equipped for serving up Christmas food.
Very nice property in rural location. Comfortable and well equipped. Enjoyed our stay. Would recommend.

Had an excellent last minute break at this fab cottage.
Had an excellent last minute break at this fab cottage. It was very well-equipped, very comfortable and warm throughout, and loved the décor. Perfect for dogs also, and the owner provided a large selection of dog towels/blankets, in the event these had been forgotten. A very large basket of logs was provided and the wood burner was very easy to use. We just needed to buy some kindling to set it away but that was available locally. The setting was very quiet and peaceful, and we found it very relaxing.

Lovely cottage with great garden and walks for the dog.
Lovely cottage with great garden and walks for the dog. The fishing area in front of the swing is too steep and slippery. Another area should be made available if fishing is to be offered on site.

A lot of thought has clearly gone in to making the cottage comfortable and easy to live in.
A lot of thought has clearly gone in to making the cottage comfortable and easy to live in. All equipment good quality and instructions and guidance about the area was helpful. Additional activities to make the property Covid safe also appreciated. Shower cubicles are a bit cramped but two en-suite bathrooms are a real bonus.
We have stayed in many properties that are described as pet friendly but this is the first one where I felt that our dog was as welcome as we were. Covers and towels provided, a lovely enclosed garden, a field to run in, picturesque riverside walks and treats, everything to make a dog settle in and enjoy the break was in place.
Would recommend the cottage to anyone wanting to tour Yorkshire or just relax locally. Beninbrough Hall very close but we also managed to travel to Saltburn and Whitby on the coast as well as Roseberry Topping and York, all easy to get to.

We enjoyed our stay at the Landings.
We enjoyed our stay at the Landings. The property itself is spotless. It is very well equipped. The surrounding paths are rather overgrown and cattle roam freely in neighbouring fields so we were reluctant to walk our dog ( on a lead) near them as they were quite large (cattle). For dog walks we went further afield. We found good walks in Harrogate, Ripon, York, Whitby & Saltburn-by-the-Sea.

A lovely place to spend a family Christmas Holiday, very warm and cosy for everyone.
A lovely place to spend a family Christmas Holiday, very warm and cosy for everyone. The fact that it has both an aga and electric oven made cooking easy, also two large sofas to relax on afterwards. The owner was very helpful and welcoming together with her friendly animals.
York was close by and although we’ve had lots of rain, we were able to get out and about very easily. A new IMAX cinema and lovely restaurants in the area added to our experience.
Well worth a second visit.

A nicely appointed quality holiday cottage close to York.
A nicely appointed quality holiday cottage close to York. We enjoyed our stay and spent a lot of our time in and around York so very convienent for us. I as somewhat suprised by the lack of a welcome pack, most places of this quality we have stayed at leave basics such as eggs, butter bread and often a bottle of wine, but the Landings left one pint of milk.

We had a lovely week there.
We had a lovely week there. We were told not to touch the heating. Apparently it was set for the winter. it was early September.
We felt cold in the evenings.
Also there was a log burner, with no logs supplied. If stated that there was a log burner, I would have expected to have some logs supplied.
Apart from that, I would recommend the lovely cottage.
