A very cosy and well-equipped cottage for 2, in a rural setting.
A very cosy and well-equipped cottage for 2, in a rural setting. We brought bikes with us, so access to the garage to store them was much appreciated, and the local very quiet roads were perfect for cycling. From this central location we were able to visit Kielder, the coast and various Hadrian's Wall locations by car during our week in Northumberland. Our hosts were helpful and friendly, and the welcome basket was very generous and thoughtful. A lovely week away and we would visit again.

We would not hesitate to recommend The Gin Gan Cottage for a restful, very comfortable break - set in a peaceful location but within a very short drive of most of the amenities anyone would require.
The setting is beautiful and the cottage surprisingly spacious, very cosy and clean, with two outside seating areas for guests.
The hosts, Michelle and Rob, are naturally very hospitable and friendly people, who obviously place great importance on the comfort and satisfaction of guests. We were greeted warmly and provided with some new-laid eggs, from their chickens, and a very generous welcome basket. Even if you did not have time to shop on the way, you would not lack for breakfast provisions on the first morning!
There are many local places of interest, which can still be enjoyed under the current restrictions, including walks along the Northumberland coast [a reasonable drive away] and the many nearby beautiful gardens which are open to the public. We particularly enjoyed Belsay Hall, with its spectacular Quarry Garden, and Whalton Manor [ privately owned, but you can phone to book an appointment]. There is also, of course, Hadrian's Wall nearby, with other Roman sites of interest.
We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our stay, and would definitely return.

Just spent a wonderful week im this gem of a cottage. Very comfortable, cosy and spacious.....spotlessly clean and the best welcome pack we have ever received at any cottage. Michelle and Robin (the owners) were extremely welcoming, helpful and a great source of knowledge of the local area and places to visit. We found the location perfect for exploring the beautiful Northumberland coastline and the beautiful countryside and places of historic interest. We would highly recommend this cottage and we are very much looking forward to returning.

Excellent cottage owned by the lovely Michelle (we didn’t meet Robin).
Excellent cottage owned by the lovely Michelle (we didn’t meet Robin). Spotlessly clean, everything worked as it should, soft towels and the best welcome basket ever. Not that we cooked (unless you count a baked potato one evening) but there were plenty of utensils, a very good oven with instructions, and sharp knives should you wish to stay in and cook. Cottage also had the most comfortable seating that we have ever encountered in a holiday cottage. Sitting relaxing in a recliner with feet up was bliss after a long day out and just like being at home but with no stress. Comfortable seating in conservatory also. Dining table in conservatory and it was chilly a couple of mornings but we put fan heater on for a few minutes each time which resolved problem. Ate out in the evenings in Corbridge or Hexham as no pub we liked the look of in close proximity to cottage, but no problem as easy drive to both. All in all a super cottage we would return to.
