With exposed beams and wooden floors this characterful and charming Aislaby dwelling provides the perfect hideaway for a couple or a small family exploring the amazing natural beauty of the North York Moors National Park and the Yorkshire Heritage Coast.
During the long summer days, watch the village life go by from the inviting south facing front garden, or relax in the summerhouse with views over the rolling fields as the sun sets. As the winter nights draw in, spend a cozy evening in front of the wood burner with a good book and a glass of wine or local spiced ale. A short wander through the village brings you to the family run local inn, serving real ales and excellent food in a friendly, inviting atmosphere. Explore the local countryside with a variety of picturesque walks straight from the front door such as the Esk Valley Walk which takes you through woodlands and streams to Grosmont, from where the North York Moors Steam Train departs, and beyond. The Cleveland Way is only a few miles away giving you panoramic coastal walks to the pretty fishing villages and smugglers coves of Robin Hood’s Bay, Ravenscar , Runswick Bay and Staithes.
It is just a few minutes drive or a short bus ride to the popular ancient seaport of Whitby, from where Captain James Cook set sail for Australia. Whitby boasts long sandy beaches, narrow cobbled streets and the famous abbey and St Mary’s Church, reached by the 199 ancient steps, where Bram Stoker found his inspiration for his novel, Dracula. If cycling is your forte then you can follow the route of the Tour de Yorkshire which has been passing through Whitby and surrounding villages every year since its inception. The medieval walled city of York with its many attractions is just an hour away, with stately homes such as Castle Howard to visit on the way. Beach 3 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 150yds.
