Lovely little cottage in one of our favourite villages in the Lakes.
Lovely little cottage in one of our favourite villages in the Lakes. Good-sized bathrooms and two spacious double bedrooms. The kitchen is tiny but workable, although the fridge is in a separate room. We really appreciated having coal provided during the cold February weather. It was disappointing when we first arrived after an afternoon of walking in the hills that the cottage was so cold, especially the downstairs kitchen / dining area where even the storage heater was switched off. Although there was plenty of coal, it might have helped if there had also been plenty of kindling and some fire lighters available. It wasn’t until the next day that the house had warmed up properly. There were a few other niggles too. There was only half a roll of loo paper and no kitchen paper. The lights in the living room intermittently flicker really badly, probably because of modern bulbs with an old-style dimmer switch. The bathroom vent clatters in the breeze, which is annoying at night. A third saucepan would be helpful. Couldn’t find any oven mitts.Overall though we very much enjoyed our stay and the charm of Corner House.
