Blaithwaite cottage is a beautiful, peaceful cottage set in idyllic surroundings.
Blaithwaite cottage is a beautiful, peaceful cottage set in idyllic surroundings. The cottage is ideally located for easy access to the stunning Lake District and surrounding areas. The cottage is well presented and spotlessly clean inside. I would have no hesitation returning to this cottage in the future. We had to contact the owner on a small matter but the issue was dealt with immediately. Everyone working within the estate were very helpful.

we had a weekend away here, and after contacting the owners we were told we were the 1st people to stay here. The overall impression was one of an excellent presented , quiet cottage which was good value. the following comments are only the minor items we found while staying and by no means spoilt are stay at the cottage. the small things we thought were missing and which we would expect to be there, or at least mentioned when booking the cottage , ( as we have had at the numerous other cumbrian cottages we have stayed at)
# there was no information pack about the cottage fixtures / fittings. for example , the heating was lovely and warm but if we wanted to turn it down, we didn't know how or wanted to start playing about with it. Also, could mention where the nearest shops, etc are
#there was a welcome pack, tea; coffee; sugar and a bottle of wine. could be worth mentioning this on booking websites, as we had to go and get milk etc the afternoon we arrived, a 3or4 mile drive to wigton.
# we would recommend taking your own bath towels, the one's in the cottage we found to be quite small compared to our own.
#we have also liked to have had some glass tumblers, not just the small/large wine glasses which were the only ones we found in the kitchen. for use at breakfast for orange juice and at night, when having a bottle or 2 of the local ale.
#outside bins would have been a great help, as dogs are allowed to stay at the cottage, and been responsible owners we clean up after our dog when out on walks. but back at he cottage there was no where to dispose of the used bags, we actually bagged them up and took them with us when leaving. didn't just want to leave them behind for the owners to sort out. So, an outside bin would be useful.
#as well as an outside tap, if possible. after taking the dog out for a long walk, he needed cleaning when back at the cottage, an outside tap would be a lot better than using the bowl from the kitchen.
As I said, none of these points made us think we had made a mistake booking the weekend at the cottage, it was very enjoyable. Even with a couple of cold and chilly nights the cottage was very warm and inviting, but an explanation of the hooks and pully wheels hanging from the kitchen and bedroom !! ceilings ,would be nice.
