Situated at Quarry Rigg, High Brow offers spacious and thoughtfully laid out accommodation. This cosy apartment has all the creature comforts one needs for their self-catering holiday and it makes the ideal base from which to explore the central and southern lakes. The bright, open plan living/dining space incorporates a contemporary fitted kitchen and has views of Lake Windermere, which is just a 10-minute walk from the apartment. There are two comfortable bedrooms and a family bathroom which completes the accommodation.

Being so central means that you can enjoy all of the town’s shops, bars, cafés and restaurants without having to negotiate town centre traffic and parking charges. Whilst the apartment is well equipped for self-catering, it is hard not to be tempted by all the nice cafés and restaurants which are all within a few minutes’ walk, and offer many different cuisines including Thai, Indian and Chinese. In addition to the wide variety of eateries, there is a traditional cinema and Bowness-on-Windermere is also home to the World of Beatrix Potter attraction which families with young children will adore. Other family friendly places to visit include the South Lakes Safari Zoo, Lakes Aquarium, Lakeland Motor Museum and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway. Grizedale Forest also makes for a great day out with plenty of trails, mountain biking, Segways and the Go Ape treetop adventure. Whilst there is plenty in Bowness-on-Windermere to keep everyone happy, there are so many other interesting places within easy reach including Ambleside, Kendal, Hawkshead, Cartmel and Ulverston.

Perfectly located apartment with lovely views.

Lovely apartment in the centre of the town and within a stones throw of shops and numerous restaurants and pubs. Comfy beds and everything needed for a self catering holiday.

We had problems opening the key safe on arrival and departure.

We had problems opening the key safe on arrival and departure. On arrival I had to ring the emergency mobile for help and at 8.59pm I was so grateful someone answered my call. The phones go off at 9pm so it was a close one. I banged and pulled and eventually the key safe opened. Anyway, on our departure the same thing happened and it took me 10 minutes at trying before I could get it open to put the keys back in. I think someone needs to look at replacing this. Apart from that, great little apartment in a good location. Would definitely stay here again.

Es ist ein ganz bezaubernder Ort, an dem es für jeden etwas gibt. Tolle Wandermöglichkeiten, Bootsfahrten, Minigolf, Kino. Einkaufen, ins Café oder Restaurant gehen, das ist alles direkt vor der Haustür. Die Unterkunft ist gut geschnitten, hat alles, was man braucht und man kann sogar den See sehen. Allerdings ist die Wohnung sehr hellhörig. Aber ansonsten können wir den Ort und die Unterkunft nur empfehlen.

Apartment was just big enough. Could have had less wardrobe in bedroom and perhaps a chair .

Great views. Bed was comfortable. Could have had an extra blanket for chilly nights! There were no extra toilet rolls in bathroom! I didn’t expect to strip the beds and put rubbish out before leaving.!!

Good Central location with food options close by. Flight of stairs access and unloading car a bit awkward with small child (but we were aware of this). Clean, comfortable, warm, and all required facilities. Easy walk down to the ferries so good base for exploring the lakes. Enjoyed our stay.

Bathroom and bedrooms very small & cramped , shower attachment very poor, just trickles water which was extremely annoying. It was advertised as a “luxury “ apartment and although location and cleanliness were of excellent standard, we do not feel it was luxury with regard to quality of sofas and mattress. We have stayed in many various holiday apartments, not labelled luxury which were more comfortable. However, would definitely recommend this apartment for a holiday in Bowness due to its location and the modern clean feel.

High Brow is centrally located which is our main reason for booking and was ideal as a base for our holiday. Flat was spotless, kitchen was very modern but there is a lack of storage space for food other than the small fridge, this would not be very practical for a group planning to take their own food to eat in. Sofa is modern but we found it not very comfy apart from the chaise section which was good. The shower over the bath is outdated and fiddly to regulate the water temperature !
