Shower Room: Walk-In Shower, Heated Towel Rail, Toilet. Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and logs for wood burner included.. Patio with garden furniture and BBQ. Shared 16-acre grounds. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: There are steps, unfenced ponds and a stream in the garden.. Waterfall Cottage is a renovated barn conversion just a stone’s throw from the stunning Lumsdale Waterfall in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with historic mill ruins and ponds dating back to the Industrial Age. Situated within the owner’s extensive 16-acre grounds looking out on to open fields, this charming cottage offers light and airy accommodation all on one level. This stunning property has an open plan layout with the living room having oak beams and a wood burner. The large patio doors open out on to a secluded patio with garden furniture and a BBQ. Stone steps lead from the patio to a private grass area for further relaxation. There are two bedrooms: one with a kingsize bed, and the other with twin beds. The shower room has a large walk-in shower.
Outside, visitors can also enjoy a spacious open area with garden ponds and a stream. These grounds, which are shared with the neighbouring holiday cottage, are very large and provide the ideal place where you can fly kites, play ball games or just to relax on a quiet evening watching the sun set whilst enjoying a spot of alfresco dining.
Here at Waterfall Cottage you have the best of both worlds: wonderful walks in the surrounding open Derbyshire countryside, and for days out, you are within close proximity to all the major tourist attractions the Derbyshire Dales have to offer. Certainly an idyllic rural retreat, yet the historic spa town of Matlock is only a mile away with its award-winning park where band concerts can be enjoyed on a Sunday summer afternoon, and where an annual Christmas Victorian Market is held in December. Matlock Bath, named the little Switzerland of England, is just a couple of miles away and the famous illuminations are held here each year in September. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
Waterfall Cottage can be booked together with Water Bailiffs Lodge (CC418024) to accommodate up to 12 guests.
Children must be supervised on site due to possible safety hazards.
There is open water in the property grounds.

This was a return visit to Waterfall cottage for us.
This was a return visit to Waterfall cottage for us. It is so cosy and comfortable with walks accessible from the front door, and a few minutes drive away from Matllock but Bakewell and Chatsworth House are also nearby. Mrs Else is so welcoming and left us a super welcome pack and shared photos of how the cottages were built back in the 80s. We will definitely come back again but for a longer stay as there is so much to do and see.
It’s a lovely little cottage just tucked away, on the outskirts of Matlock. Great shower, comfy beds and so peaceful.

A comfortable cottage with all the facilities one would require including a fantastic walk in shower
A comfortable cottage with all the facilities one would require including a fantastic walk in shower. The two hosts, the ever smiling Wendy and the indefatigable Nigel were a pleasure to know. Wendy on arrival provided cakes, chocolates and even a bottle of wine plus tea , coffeewe couldn’t have wished for a better welcome. Nigel’s pride and joy was. Huge symphonic fairground organ which we had the quite unbelievable pleasure of viewing. All in all a memorable 5days I would have no hesitation in recommending this Cottage
We tend to seek out places that are quiet and isolated but not too far from amenities. Waterfall Cottage fitted that bill very well indeed and was very peaceful, has everything you need while away and most of the Peak District places we wanted to visit were 25 mins or less away. Lovely local walk in Lumsdale too. The microbrewery next door also makes a lovely Golden ale. So we very much enjoyed our stay.
Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated.
Perfect location for family with kids.
Felt safe to let the children explore in their own which have the adults much needed rest.
Host was lovely and helpful. Goodies and wine in arrival muchly appreciated.
The weather also helped but the cottage remained cool even at night.
Only thing missing was some BBQ tools but made do with a knife and wooden spoon combination.
Thanks for a great stay!
Great property as all on one level.
Lovely owner very helpful when needed.

Lovely secluded cottage located close to Matlock and a fabulous pub (the gate @ Tansley).
Lovely secluded cottage located close to Matlock and a fabulous pub (the gate @ Tansley). Cosy accommodation with open fire, which was needed given the wet weather we had.
The owner went out of their way to make our short stay great. They were extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
Would definitely return.
