This cabin and property are the perfect getaway. Our dog had a terrific time, and so did our kids playing in the creek and enjoying the large porch. We were sad to leave it.
We had a wonderful weekend at Off The Beaten Path! It was very secluded, just as we wanted, and the cabin had everything we needed for a peaceful weekend.
Off the beaten path was just as it said! The cabin was tidy, clean and inviting. Spent most of our time on the large deck looking out into the babbling brook. Wonderful time!

Absolutely amazing!
This vacation was exactly what we needed, and the cabin completely amazed us! It was exactly as pictured, or better! The "extras" were so nice, like the coffee, cocoa, milk, juice, and much more! Also the cleanliness was remarkable! We would definitely go again!

We were so pleased to have the Cooley's to visit. Thanks for leaving the cabin in great shape!!!!
Very nice as we have stayed her before This is the best place for seclusion and that much needed break from work No complaints at all Just what the doctor ordered
Thank you for sharing your home with us. It is definitely off the beaten path and I would recommend a better vehicle that a Camry like me to drive through the woods. It was such a peaceful stay.
Our family had a great stay at the cabin. Kids stayed up stairs, which were steep, but they didn’t mind. Sat out on the porch each morning and evening. Dogs enjoyed the stream. Had a lovely time.
Our stay at the remote cabin was enjoyable and comfortable. The amenities furnished helped make our stay relaxing. There was nothing lacking. We woke to a chilly 38 degrees outside but the cabin was warm. Pat is a fine host! Glad we had a truck to cross the small stream on our way up to the cabin.
We enjoyed our stay in Off the Beaten Path. This cozy cabin, nestled in the woods, offers privacy and tranquility. We enjoyed our time sitting around the outdoor fire pit roasting marshmallows and listening to the peaceful sound of the stream running next to us. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for our weekend visit. Just be aware that there are a fair amount of animals mounted on the walls. The nearby market had lots of supplies and we were even able to pick up some nice filet mignon that we grilled at the cabin. Pat, the owner, was quick to respond to my questions and provided all of the essentials from milk to toilet paper. We enjoyed our hike on the Rocky Knob trail off of the Blueridge Parkway and our visit to Chateau Morrisette Winery. I would definitely recommend visiting the area and staying at this cabin.

So very glad you enjoyed your stay! Thanks for reminding folks about our decor. Sometimes folks don't look at the pics are surprised to see our cabin in woods actually includes deer, bear, raccoon and bobcats.
We loved the seclusion of this house. The creek was great entertainment for our young teen zoologist (!!), and I loved photographing the jungle effect of the rhododendrons. The covered back deck was huge, making it great for enjoying a rain storm. There was one fishing trip that resulted in delicious dinner of brook trout and another fun trip into nearby Floyd. Very efficient wifi and we were able to text on our cell phones (no calls except with the landline, as mentioned in description). We love to take time to cook some of our favorite meals and desserts when on vacation, and the kitchen did not disappoint! I had been sick a few weeks earlier and still had no energy for the nearby hiking I had planned - but there is always next time. And I hope there will be a next time!
Clean, quiet, comfortable. Hot water runs out fast, no big deal.great porch and fire pit area. I thought from the pictures that firewood was provided but I should have asked, no big deal. Very nice!
This is what you picture when you say hunting cabin. The property is beautiful and serene, the creek babbles and the crickets chirp. My three young children and dog loved playing in the creek while my wife and I watched from the porch. We will definitely be coming back sometime in the future.
If you are into mushroom hunting I found a large group of chanterelles and saw some chicken of the woods along a nearby road.
The cabin was great! It was my daughter’s 18th birthday & that was the first stop on our road trip. Pat the owner even had a few birthday decorations already set out💜 me & the girls really enjoyed our evening there
We had a wonderful time in this comfy and secluded cabin in the woods! My sons loved playing in the creek and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals. The porch was perfect to sit out in the mornings with a cup of coffee and listen to the creek. We saw several deer and other wildlife. It was a great family getaway!
We loved the “Off the Beaten Path” location and the 4 of us high school friends from the Class of 72 had a fun and relaxing time. Although the steps to the loft were shallow and steep, the upstairs was cozy and the beds comfortable. Suggestion would be more lighting… need more lamps in bedrooms and living room. Pat, the Property Manager, was amazing…we had a little problem with the TV and she came running, literally, within minutes, fixed us right up and was so friendly and accommodating.
If you're looking for a quiet place off the beaten path this is your place. The cabin was cozy. It felt truly like our "home away from home." When you go outside on the deck, you are welcome by the sound of chirping birds and the murmuring river water. The green all around was pretty welcoming. Meadows of Dan is a quaint little town too. We loved it. Mabry Mill is a must see to visit and take pictures. 2 things we must say: this is a hunter's cabin. the taxidermy animals on the walls are pretty intense. Also although you can get there easily by regular car, it will probably be best in a SUV. Otherwise do go and unplug at the cabin. It's worth every cent.
Pat is Super Host. We definitely will stay here again the closest city is Hillville. So make sure to do all your shopping first. Definitely try to be there during daylight as it is a little complicated to get there. But once you are the the place is amazing.
Definitely Recommended.
Cozy and pretty place, but comfort with taxidermy required
Private location, clean and well-kept cabin, comfortable space, babbling brook nearby. Lovely supply of cereal, coffee, and tea. There is also a large number of taxidermied animals mounted along the walls, so a certain comfort level with this practice would be important.
We were happy both for the six beds in the upper bedroom and to see the Pack-N-Play available in the lower bedroom. The deck is really nice and was a highlight for us. It was nice even in the rain, and was great for watching our young ones as they played in the creek. There were ample towels and blankets, and the individual soaps and shampoos were also nice. A truly secluded and peaceful experience.
