Excellent stay, beautiful location, quiet and peaceful, highly recommend the local Pub/restaurant (the bridge inn) Pammy ! perfect host. And also the local cafe No.77 breakfast was perfect. Ideally located for Edinburgh and all its attractions 5âï¸.
Property was selected for its suitability for a family member with limited mobility. No stairs, minimal steps (property has five levels with between one and 3 steps to reach the next level). Kitchen had a good selection of pots, pans, cooking and eating utensils for our needs. Lovely dining table and chairs and comfortable sofas in the living area. En suite bathroom for the double bedroom and a shower room for the twin bedroom. Beds were very comfortable. Arriving in the dark meant we had a little delay finding the coach house - we were reticent to disturb anyone in Ratho Hall - the coach house was located once we drove past the hall down the woodland lane. Rachel checked we were okay the following day and was very friendly. Great base for visiting Edinburgh either by car or using the park and ride, nearby Linlithgow and South Queensferry provided interesting
Beautiful cottage and surroundings close to Edinburgh
We loved our stay, and were even a little surprised at just how good everything was! Although Ratho is close to the suburbs of Edinburgh, it feels very much like being in the middle of the country when you arrive. The cottage is set in 20 acres of lovely woodland, and the grounds are full of trees and nature. We watched birds, squirrels, highland cows and the resident Shetland pony and donkey from the house. The house itself is extremely well appointed, was so warm and cosy, the beds and facilities were exceptional. It also felt very homely though, and not all holiday cottages do, so kudos to the owners for that. The rooms were surprisingly spacious. It is also really well soundproofed. We loved being able to walk to the local pub (dog friendly) and onto the canal paths in the village, as well as around the grounds. To get into Edinburgh was really easy, we took the local park and ride (about ten minute drive from the house at Ingliston), then the tram right into the centre. Took the dogs in the tram at no extra cost (£3.80 return for an adult, bargain). The only slight fly in the ointment was finding the cottage first - my Garmin satnav wanted to take me onto the canal path! Owner did warn this could happen with some satnavs, so possibly What3words would be helpful. Had a wonderful stay and loved every moment.
All I can say is we can't wait to return. Location is stunning and everything you need to enjoy a home from home experience. Beautiful walks and short drive to the city and other tourist attractions. The children are already asking when we are returning. Top class!

Perfect location for mixing accessibility to Edinburgh with a rural location.
Perfect location for mixing accessibility to Edinburgh with a rural location. Just over half an hour into central Edinburgh using par and ride and tram. Close to retail parks for supermarkets and pub within a few minutes walk. Warm and comfortable cottage with two good sized double bedrooms. We will definitely return here.
