SNOW
Snow falls in 'The Barrington Tops' are historically, usually between 2 to 6 falls each season - with July the best month.
Once settled, the snow usually melts quite quickly.
New technology has been established at Mount Barrington which will give a much clearer indication if there has been snowfall then waiting for a Ranger to travel and confirm.
In regards to travelling to the snow, it is best to get to the snow as soon after snowfall as possible, roads in the National Parks are all gravel and with snow, rain and high vehicle usage they can become very muddy, icy and at times slippery.
We have accessed with a two wheel drive vehicle but it is much better / safer in a 4wd. If the road is deemed to become too dangerous the Rangers close the road, although it is still possible to walk to the snow but from memory it is about 2 to 3 kms, so warm clothes are needed.
Mount Barrington is 1,500m high so keep an eye on the forecast and when they are predicting snow down to say 1,300m there is a very good chance there will be snowfalls at Mt Barrington.
Note snowfall does not always reach as far north as the Barringtons, even with falls down to 800m.
From Gloucester allow a good 2 hours (depending on conditions/traffic) to get to the snow areas. Google Map Polblue Crown Reserve, Barrington Tops, NSW then click "satellite" to get a birds eye view of the area.
Good Luck!!!

Hello and a Warm Welcome to "Mansfield" Cottage Barrington. We have provided Holiday Accommodation since 2002 and are very proud of the facilities that we provide for guests. We provide Holiday Destinations in the Mountains, at the Beach and by the Lake. Hope you can stay one day soon!!!
Jill Perram purchased this farmhouse in 1999
Why Jill Perram chose Barrington
The "Mansfield" Property has been owned and operated by four generations of the Perram Family, originally operating as a Dairy and Beef Farm, from the 1800s. On display at Mansfield, is a Christmas card from my Great Grandfather & Great Grandmother for Christmas 1913. In September 2002, the Cottage was converted into Holiday Accommodation and enjoys a very successful role in the local tourism industry.
