This home is one of the best we’ve ever rented using VRBO! The view is absolutely incredible; the home beautifully decorated and well stocked; the location perfect for OSF; and the hosts, friendly and responsive. We would stay here again, for sure!
Absolutely beautiful views complete with wild turkeys and deer. A lovely home in a great location. It was a perfect spot for our family to enjoy time together while exploring the lovely town of Ashland. I hope to return before long!
Beautiful location, lovely home. Comfortable and quiet, with deer wandering through the property. Short drive to downtown, close to trails. Excellent AC, good kitchen.
This spot was a perfect base to explore Ashland and enjoy family time together. Bill’s place has spectacular views and is very cosy and comfortable. Thank you Bill for your hospitality!
Our family traveled to visit our son and grandson. We had a wonderful time. The property was comfortable, clean and well appointed with beautiful views and a very nice location. Initially we had no hot water in one of the bathrooms, but the issue was fixed as soon as we brought it to the attention of the owner. We would definitely stay there again.
This is a super well-appointed apartment with everything you might need for a short stay. It has a full high-end kitchen and bath, dining area, and amazing views of Ashland. The Hosts were very responsive to communication but also left us our privacy. We only met Bill the day we checked in but he was quick to answer texts. We hope to stay here again!
It’s just lovely. We scored! Front of house has a big table and chairs with a magnificent view; backyard is just wonderful with outdoor dining, swing chair, fire pit, etc. Really great. Indoors, a lovely home with a complete kitchen. Comfortable and spacious. Beautiful master bedroom suite. Amazing hiking trails just above the house. Excellent location. Quiet! Close to everything. We loved it and our hosts did a great job with all aspects. Everyone felt the same. Thank you.
wonderful place to stay when exploring Ashland or attending the Shakespeare Festival
What a fantastic place this Virbo rental is! The host Bill, is very nice, and responds quickly to any questions or issues. The house is amazing, very big and incredibly with beautiful views, and lots of outdoor spaces. The property back up to several hiking trails, but is also only about 10 minutes from the Shakespeare festival. Check in and check out is a breeze and Bill provides a list of local restaurants, grocery stores, etc... honestly I can't say enough about this lovely virbo home.
Wonderful place to stay!! As previous reviewers have written the pictures can't do justice to the reality of the view. Communication with the owners was easy, check in was a breeze. We met up with friends to enjoy a week of OSF plays, games, food and catching up.The home had everything we needed and more. The kitchen was beautiful and extremely well equipped. The beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of space to get together or have a little "me" time as well. We had access to both the front yard view and the back yard outside living area. There are hiking trails nearby. It is in a residential neighborhood with easy access to both Ashland town center and the highway. We would love to return in the future!
My husband Don and I absolutely loved this home. Pictures don’t do it justice. Our host Bill was very accommodating. All the comforts of home were provided. Beside being comfortable and quiet, the views were so beautiful. One full day we sat out on the patio and sipped some wine and enjoyed the scenery. If we are ever in this area again, we would not hesitate to book again. Great location for day trips.
This was the second time I have stayed at this property and both times I was sad to leave. It is a short drive to the beautiful downtown area and located in a quiet residential area, up the hill with a wonderful view and close to the walking trail. It is like a 1 bedroom apartment equipped with everything you could need. It's nice to see the wildlife visitors and bird watch. The rental fee is such a value for all this property offers. I certainly look forward to visiting again soon, and will say the owner is very pleasant and accommodating.

The host, William, was welcoming, and flexible on our request for early arrival. He met us on arrival to answer any questions and show us around. The house was clean, comfortable, AC worked well and the pool table was a hit with our family. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchen utensils, pots, pans, spices etc for cooking. The house is 1 story so also suited our 80 year old grandma. Lots of nice touches by host to make us feel welcome. We used his list of local recommendations for food and were not disappointed. The location was super quiet and close enough to a hiking trail that we hiked every day. Downtown Ashland is walkable if you are a walker or a short drive as well. The view of the mountains from the house is stunning and peaceful at the same time! There are many picture perfect spots on this property as well. Will definitely stay here again if coming to Ashland with our family.

Above and beyond
Over the years I have stayed in many vacation rentals in Ashland with friends. This was by far the cleanest of all the properties we have stayed. It also was the quietest. Located high on a hill few cars passed by. Because we were on the top of a hill we drove to all shows at the Shakespeare festival. The house also had the best air conditioning I have experienced in a rental vacation home. Definitely not window units. The five days we were there were extremely warm so the air-conditioning was greatly appreciated. There are hiking trails adjacent to the house. Our host Bill was extremely helpful. Hope to stay there again next year.

Dear Naida,
Thank you for your kind words. Hope to see you again in 2018!

I stayed for a week in Bill’s hilltop oasis while visiting family in Southern Oregon. The online listing is incapable of showing how beautiful the space is, both inside and out. The views are spectacular. This space is completely separate from the owner’s home and is located on top of a three car garage. Not only does this elevated perch provide the best views, but it allows for a sense of privacy that was greatly appreciated. There is an entire separate driveway access and parking to the space that added to the feeling of separation from the main property. The inside of the rental unit is very well done and comfortable. It has a highly functional and fully stocked kitchen, a dining area for 6, a comfortable living room with a flat screen TV, quality WiFi and wall mounted heating and cooling unit with remote control. The bedroom is spacious and has an attached covered deck. The bed, linens and pillows were comfortable and high quality. The bathroom was nicer than any hotel I’ve stayed in. The walk-in shower is huge, has two shower heads, a dedicated hot water heater and incredible water pressure. The unit is also equipped with a full size washer and dryer which were utilized during my week long stay. Check-in was easy as communications with Bill were timely and clear. I was truly grateful for his kindness and willingness to be available as needed. There are no downsides to this space. Only thing I would suggest being prepared for is a very steep roadway to the property entrance. There were several days of snow during my stay and I had wished for an awd rental car. That same snowy weather made for an even more majestic visit for me. I cannot recommend this rental more highly, except to say I will be back.
View from every room. Attention to detail from the beamed ceiling to the matching towels. Beyond fully stocked kitchen. Great place. Owners even got us some perishables. Wonderful. I’m ready to move in.
The rental property was spacious and comfortable, with a lovely view. We were greeted warmly and all communication was clear and welcoming. In addition, there is easy access to walking and hiking trails. This is quite a find and we would highly recommend staying here.
The property was great. It is close to hiking trails and also close to town. The best of both worl
We had a great time. The property is great.

About the host
Hosted by William Barchet
Originally from Canada, I discovered Ashland in 1992, eventually moving here in 1995 from Maui. My wife is from Seoul, S. Korea. We met here in Ashland while she was co-director of the Institute for Asian Studies and Cultures. We owned/operated Hana Sushi restaurant in Ashland until retiring about 11 years ago. We enjoy playing tennis and walking the mountain trails next to our home.
Why they chose this property
My home is on one of the best homesites in the valley. The views are amazing, the weather is excellent, it has more privacy than most need, yet it is very convenient to excellent restaurants, entertainment and shopping.
What makes this property unique
The city of Ashland maintains an excellent network of walking/ hiking trails starting just outside my door. The home itself is on one level with a covered entertaining area in the back yard and a patio with incredible views in the front yard. Many of the design details, finishes and appliances are uncommonly seen in a rental.
