About this property

Yarra Valley Views is a renovated 1970s home in Lilydale

Yarra Valley Views is a charming and newly renovated home just out of Lilydale in the beautiful Yarra Valley. With three luxurious bedrooms and two oversized bathrooms, you can step inside and immediately relax. Or jump into the pool and cool off before enjoying a BBQ on the back verandah. Local Champagne, chocolates and cheese platter & biscuits provided on arrival. Bacon, eggs, bread and essentials for breakfast for your first day also supplied.

Bed and bathrooms:
The two upstairs bedrooms boast views across the magnificent Yarra Valley and on a cool spring morning, the valley floor is covered in a soft layer of cloud and often dotted with colourful soaring hot air balloons.
The large modern bathrooms have large walk-in rain showers, heated towel rails and luxury towels. There is an ample supply of shampoo, specialist soaps and an hairdryer in each bathroom. The two upstairs bedrooms have extra comfortable mattresses, quality Sheridan linen, luxurious carpet, flat screen TVs, reverse cycle air conditioners, bath robes and beautiful views across the pool to the valley and beyond.
The third bedroom has a double bed and the same quality mattresses, bath robes and Sheridan linen. All beds have soft electric blankets, choice of pillows and extra blankets available. There are two separate lounge areas with comfortable couches and armchairs and soft woollen throws. The downstairs floors are traditional polished parquetry and rough-cut slate. There is a large flat screen TV, DVD player and powerful reverse cycle cooler. There are ceiling fans in all rooms.

Kitchen:
The kitchen has a wide gas oven and stovetop with all the pots, pans and utilities required to whip up some great food. There is a modern dishwasher and large fridge and freezer stocked with local produce for your home made breakfast looking out over the valley.
We have a nice herb garden for use and seasonal citrus available to be picked fresh from the tree. There are all the coffee options you can desire – expresso machine (traditional type), 12 cup filter machine, plunger and of course good old instant and for the rest there is fresh leaf tea – herbal and traditional. There is a complimentary bottle of local Yarra Valley wine in the fridge plus more available for purchase. For the longer stay we have automatic clothes washer and dryer with complimentary washing powder. There is an iron and ironing board for your use.

The pool is 12m long and is heated to 27C between November and April. Pool towels are provided.

Finally to help you relax and enjoy your stay we have an ample supply of fiction and non fiction books, a broad collection of DVDs, board games and a CD player with an iPod doc. There is free good speed WiFi to download your favourite movies. In the warmer months you can cook on the gas or traditional wood BBQs in the El-fresco dining area or walk down to the 12m pool and have a BBQ lunch and swim. We have a kettle BBQ, Japanese style charcoal grill and small spit rotisserie available for use. There is a sprawling garden in which you can wander and unwind from the stresses of the modern world.

Yarra Valley Views is ideal for one, two or three couples to relax and forget about the hectic world in one of Australia’s most visited regions. We have a two night minimum booking on Weekends, it is the entire house. Easter and Christmas have a minimum five day booking of the whole house and we are happy to discuss long term bookings. We live on site in a separate house and are there to ensure your stay is as perfect as it can be. As long time residents of the region we can help you find something in the area that will entice and impress. Yarra Valley Views is not a party venue and limited guests are welcome but please inform us of times and numbers.

The Region:
The Yarra Valley is home to over seventy wineries, 100+ restaurants, natural forests of massive Mountain Ash, several world class golf courses and the magnificent Healesville Sanctuary. You can easily spend a week taking in the sights, the local food and wine all in fresh clean air. Of course you can sit on the balcony, in the outdoor lounge or the el-fresco dining area and take in fantastic views whilst sipping on some local wine, beer or the newcomer – Yarra Valley Gin. There is a group of local Rosellas and parrots that are regular visitors and a flock of Sulphur Crested Cockatoos in summer. Stay a bit longer and take a drive to the ski fields (2.5 hours), cross country skiing (1 hour) Phillip Island and the penguins (2 hours) or head into Melbourne for a day’s shopping (1 hour). We are only five minutes from the 40km iconic Warburton Trail along which you can walk or ride through the valley.
Pick the right time and you can take in a show at the 130 year old Lilydale Athenaeum Theatre or head out to Rochford Wines for one of their many large concerts. There is also Tarrawarra Museum with its classic art collection and Lilydale Museum with its reflection on the life of Dame Nellie Melba. For those with a sweet tooth there is the Chocolate Factory and its amazingly delectable chocolates. Yarra Glen has its own racecourse with trots and horse racing regularly during the year. The Yarra Valley and the Dandenongs are famous for their gardens and parks from the stunning creations at Alowyn Gardens in Yarra Glen to the famous Olinda Botanic Gardens (ex - Rhododendron Gardens) and William Rickets Sanctuary in Mt Dandenong.

Really a visit to Yarra Valley Views (short or long) is the perfect opportunity to see some of the best food, wine and gardens in the world whilst staying in serene luxury.

The most dreamiest view!
Absolutely stunning property and views over the Yarra Valley, felt like you were in your own tropical paradise. The pool was perfect and Di and Clive kindly gave us a later check out so we could enjoy it a bit longer. The cheeseboard and bubbly on arrival was also hit as well as the fresh bread, bacon, eggs for brekkie. Thank you for making our girls weekend so special, we will be back!

About the host

Hosted by Clive Larkman

Host profile image
Di and Clive are long term nursery operators in the Yarra Valley. Clive was born in Sri Lank and came to Australia in 1962. He grew up in Vermont then spent five years travelling Asia, Europe and USA prior to settling at the family nursery in Lilydale. Di was born and grew up in Forbes NSW before living in Sydney and the Adelaide. She met Clive in 1990 and moved to Lilydale the following year. Di has three boys from her first marriage. One lives in Western NSW and is married with three girls. The other two work at the family nursery and one lives in Lilydale with his young daughter. The other lives in Yarra Junction with his wife and daughter.

Why they chose this property

Clive's mother (Stephanie) and father (Barry) bought this property in 1986 to run their small nursery. Barry passed away in 1989 a few months after Clive returned from Europe. He and Stephanie managed the business and then Di joined them in 1991. Clive and Di built a second house on the property in 1993 and have been there every since. Stephanie went into a home in 2016 and passed away in 2019. Clive and Di felt that the house and views were so good that it made a perfect bed and breakfast venue. They spent three years renovating the house and finally in January 2020 were able to list it.

What makes this property unique

Yarra Valley Views has an amazing view and because it was a family residence for many years it is well equipped for visitors to settle in and enjoy the region. It is just out of Lilydale which is the start of the Yarra Valley proper and guests easily go north to Yarra Glen or Healesville, east to Warburton or south to Silvan/Monbulk and the Dandenong Ranges. It is set well back from the highway so is private and quiet. It has lots of birds, fresh air and open space yet is less then an hour from central Melbourne.
