The apartment

As you walk through the red door you are immediately drawn to the bedrooms with their luxurious linen and Tasmanian made Waverley woollen throws. Spectacular river views can be seen from the main bedroom and to your left the single bedroom has a desk for a quiet moment of study, reading or relaxing.

Go down the spiral stairs to the light and airy living area featuring lounge, dining ta-ble and chairs, TV/DVD and stereo. Step on to the deck with its outdoor furniture and take in the views beyond of the Derwent River and Mount Wellington.

Off the lounge is a well appointed kitchen, with espresso machine, microwave and full size fridge and oven. The bathroom with its shower and toilet features front loading washing machine and dryer.

The decor is contemporary with details of Tasmanian art, craft and design. Heating in all rooms makes this a cosy place in winter. The deck allows for al fresco dining in summer as you watch the ever-changing activity on the river.

The apartment with wonderful views is conveniently located within walking distance to the Salamanca markets. It is a well serviced small place suitable for 2 to 3 people. It has everything you would need for an enjoyable stay. The hosts are great and very responsive to any queries.

We love the Red Roor Apartment. Battery Point is full of wonderful walks and dining opportunities. The little French restaurant, A Tiny Place is a must do. You have all you could need in this compact and charming apartment, and a lovely view too.

Great apartment close to all amenities

We loved the Red Door (now grey) for it's layout and design - an excellent choice for any couple looking to explore Hobart and be within walking distance of the market - we loved the kitchen, deck and main bedroom views - many thanks to Robin and Kate for stocking some coffee and milk for the first morning after our flight. Stores on Sandy Bay Road are easy to access for additional provisions. Overall a great place to hang your hat for a few days.

Convenience and a view

Intimate, cosy and clean property perfect for a brief stay in Hobart. Although tiny, it suited our small family group with its convenience to Salamanca and Sandy Bay. Lovely early morning walks in the sunshine and great local coffee suggestions. Beautiful view over the water to the casino, and of the city lights at night. A bit short on storage space, but no matter to us with little luggage. Would benefit from some more equipment in the kitchen (e.g. for the microwave) for those who actually want to eat in, but then with lots of quality local restaurants and cafes why would you?

We absolutely loved our stay at Red Door apartment! It was the perfect location to walk down to Salamanca Place (10mins), shopping centres in Hobart (10-15mins) and Sandy Bay shops (5 mins). The accommodation itself is clean and well presented. The double room is on the smaller side so no room for luggage in there but we didn't need the single bedroom so used that for storage. The outdoor area and garden is beautiful with a lovely view of the river. Communication and check in process was very easy and hosts were relatively quick with responding. Only issue we had was looking for the RED DOOR, it now has a grey door which the instructions for check in still say to look for a red door, so heads up. Kitchen has a good amount of utensils etc. One downside is the cupboards are veryyyy high up. I am only 5ft tall so a few times I had to get my friend to try and reach and even she struggled so if you're on the shorter side you may have troubles there. Bathroom has a washing machine and dryer which is handy. Plenty of bench space and has decent lighting plus heater light. Shower pressure is strong however the shower head angle is a bit awkward. Another thing that would have made our stay more enjoyable was to have a TV in the bedroom also. The only TV is in the lounge opposite the dining table. The spiral staircase is lovely but a bit daunting so if you're not steady on your feet maybe consider this. Overall a great stay and would gladly stay there again as location is perfect

Property is well presented and comfortable. Parking was a problem as neighbours park their vehicle on an angle on the footpath. It was necessary for us to park on the street. On street parking restrictions apply.

The apartment was in a great location, close to Salamanca and an easy walk to the CBD.

This is a convenient location. Nice and clean, good laundry facilities and adequate space for 2 people. Good Wi-Fi. It is quite small, therefore best suited to those who do not plan to spend too much time in the accommodation. There is no parking space and on-street parking Mon-Fri is 2 hours only. We had difficulty getting a parking space close to the accommodation.

There are so many things to love about Red Door. For me, it was the absolute privacy, the historic background of its origin in an historic location, the outlook from the patio and main bedroom over the Derwent River, the information booklet that was well organised and very informative, the provisions in the bathroom and kitchen, the top class bedding and linen, the lovely decor, and a touch that I have not seen before - business cards pinned to a cork board for local restaurants/bakeries and other local highlights and more cards stacked on a tray allowing you to take one or two with you on a day or night out. I have stayed at many places in Hobart and this would have to be my new favorite to return to.

A well-appointed apartment, but a bit too cramped for three.

Luckily we left our cat at home, because there’s not room to swing a cat in this apartment. Possibly perfect for two people, but too small for three. There was so little room in the main bedroom that I had to leave my suitcase in the foyer, where I got dressed each day. The upstairs bedrooms, the downstairs bathroom and a tiny spiral staircase in between made night time trips to the bathroom perilous. We also found it difficult to shower. The cubicle was so small it was not easy to turn around without banging into the the glass sides. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable, and the unit was well appointed.

Perfect location, excellent facilities

We spent a week over New Year at this property and can’t recommend it highly enough. Comfortable beds in both rooms, clothes washing facilities, excellent shower, fully equipped kitchen and lots of information provided on local attractions and restaurants. if we come back to wonderful Hobart again, this property will be at the top of our list.

Enjoyable stay, great location !

This apartment is in a great location, being a few minutes stroll into battery point via Sandy Bay Road or Kelly Street steps. Also, there are the Billy Goat Steps at the other end of the street, a neat shortcut taking you towards Sandy Bay shops. The apartment is quiet at night. We were able to sleep with the windows open and wake up to birdsong (coming from Sydney where one normally wakes to the music from people's endless parties, it made a wonderful change!). Plenty of towels are supplied and there is a washing machine and dryer. The kitchen is well-supplied with crockery, etc. for a short stay. Plenty of up-to-date information is provided about the restaurants/cafes of Battery Point and various attractions around Hobart.

Well located close to everything

Had a great weekend at Red Door Apartment in Battery Point. Fantastically located within easy walk to Hobart central, Salamanca markets, harbour and Sandy Point. Only think that could have been clearer is the size of the apartment is smaller than expected from photos, plus bedrooms on entry level and remaining living and bathroom down the spiral staircase. Took a while to get used to the staircase, not for people with mobility issues. Views front and back brilliant, was great to be able to sit on deck with a glass of wine each night and look at the casino as the sun set.
