The cottage was big enough for us and was in good shape. The little beach area was perfect for our visiting 4 year old. Swimming was great to cool off too for us. Excellent stay, thank you!
Weather could have been kinder but no reflection on how this cottage provides a wonderful vacation.

Very private beautiful location on the lake. Easy access to the water. Great swimming. Kitchen had all the amenities needed. Diswasher was a bonus. Deck overlooking the lake was fabulous. Firewood too was provided for our use.
We had a great stay at this cottage. It was nice and the lake was private and quite. We had great fun playing in the water and fishing. The cottage has all the basic necessities like dishes and garbage bags and laundry which was great. The only thing that made me slightly uncomfortable was there was a ouijie board inside the “games armour” but I’m a little sensitive to things like that! Overall it was a great family spot and really close to downtown Huntsville!
My wife and I stayed here for a week in July. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. The site, swimming and canoeing were great Remarkably, there were very few bugs on the deck although plenty in the woods.Suggestions: a brush for the BBQ which needed a major clean; the stove as well needed a thorough cleaning. The owner was very attentive to questions and to COVID precautions. We had a great time and would do it again.
The cottage was nicely supplied with the necessary daily items needed for a convenient stay. Great to have firewood to use, the canoe and the dishwasher! The week we were there was a scorcher and we were very thankful to have the supply of fans in every room. Note that the DVD player is not Blue Ray, but worked fine for the older DVD's we took. Would be good to have info about drinking water in the listing. Thanks for a great week.
A true cottage experience like I remember as a kid, rustic yet cozy with everything you need for your stay. The lake water was calm, refreshing and quiet without noisy boats zipping by. If you’re looking for a private, quiet lake this is the place to stay. Being able to walk into the lake from the small beach area on the property was a bonus for our young children. The cottage also has a room with a bunk bed which we were surprised by and naturally our kids chose that for the stay. Check out Westside Fish and Chips in town and be amazed by the huge teapot collection and friendly service! Limberlost Nature Preserve is not too far and has amazing hiking trails. Lots to discover in the area and would definitely come back. Great location and wonderful hosts.
The description for this place is very under-stated -- it's really a beautiful place. The lake is amazing water, nice and sandy shore with beautiful swimming. There aren't that many cottages on the lake and not many of them are visible from this property -- so you get the feeling that it's a private lake. It's great for a nice canoe paddle and the view from the living room bay window is spectacular. One of the big challenges was to decide where to sit with morning coffee, on the patio, in the kitchen nook, out on the dock, in the den -- too many options!
It =is= an older cottage and it's definitely a cottage, not a finished home -- but it's lovingly decorated, very clean, and completely stocked with all of the living essentials.
I heartily recommend this place.
Cathy's cottage was very clean, cozy and as described. We used her stove everyday and never had an issue. It was nice also having use of a dishwasher during our stay. Everything was provided - you only need to pack clothing and food. The view of the lake was the best part of our stay. The lake is small but very calm and peaceful. We went swimming everyday and even went for a boat ride in the row boat provided. My daughter is 3 yrs old and loved the sand area and shallow water - it was perfect for her. We loved the daily visits from the ducks and saw a loon and deer. After a long day of swimming, my daughter also enjoyed lounging on the living room couch at night and watching the DVD's provided. Close proximity to downtown Huntsville was also convenient (about 10 min drive). We will definitely be returning next year.
This was our second time visiting this cottage. Very peaceful spot, cozy, rustic and well-equipped. Great swimming area for young kids and adults alike and proximity to town is very convenient. Owners are friendly and responsive.
This is the second year our family has vacationed here and we had a wonderful time once again. Lots of room inside and out for our family of 4. It's rustic but extremely clean and had everything we needed. Thanks again!
So quiet and peaceful. Well equipped kitchen had everything we needed. Much appreciated the canoe, firepit and up-graded barbecue. Owner was very responsive when we had a small issue which was rectified right away. Swimming was great. Saw deer, ducks, loons and heron. Thanks for a great stay.
What an incredible spot this was for a relaxing family vacation. Small, quiet lake, perfect for canoeing and kayaking or just lounging on the deck. We had everything we needed and the place was spotless. Area was great for walks and we were lucky enough to see deer on our first day! Communication was easy and owners were extremely helpful. Will definitely be back.
Cathy's place was clean, cozy, and well-equipped. The location was very quiet (only saw a motorboat one day out of seven) and neighbours were quiet but friendly. It was really nice not to have WiFi or cable! Our kids (4 and 7) loved the beach and shallow water entry. We got a lot of use out of the canoe and saw painted turtles, ducks, ospreys, a loon, and 2 fawns. The proximity to town was convenient. We hope to return next year as this place was exactly what we were looking for.
It was very quiet in this area and around the lake. We also had the opportunity to pretty close to the animals. As we were relaxing on the dock in the evening, we had a doe approach our beach, and even came up along the dock in the water, almost an arm's reach away! Awesome.
We had a wonderful stay. The cottage was spotless, quiet and peaceful. Neighbours were friendly and quiet, communications were prompt and friendly and amenities such as the dishwasher and laundry were much appreciated. We’ll be back!
Great location. Incredible view. Good swimming and canoeing. The cottage has all the basics you need and is somewhat larger than the pictures make it out to be. The eating/dining table in a nook of windows makes for lovely meals with great views. The lake is quiet and peaceful with only the sounds of ducks, birds, frogs, squirrels and crickets.

Grew up just up the road. My grandfather purchased to be close to my parents and then we inherited the cottage when our boys were young. They have spent their whole lives going to the cottage and loved every minute

I love that you have the tranquility of being on a small lake, but an 8 minute drive to downtown Huntsville and 45 minutes to Algonquin Park and 20 minute's to Arrowhead Park.
