This beautiful, spacious, redwood cottage sits on incredible Island Lake about 2 miles out side of the unincorporated community of Orange Springs. Set on a perfect, private lake lot, the property consists of the large main house, a spacious guest house, carport, dock, boat house, and patio. Great lake views, old live oak trees with Spanish moss, and a lake breeze describe this picturesque environment. The main house sleeps 7. If you rent the optional guest house (2 persons), the property can accommodate a total of 9. The dock is terrific for fishing and the lake is great for swimming. 80 feet of shoreline awaits you. There is a canoe, charcoal grill, picnic table, and fire pit for relaxing outdoors.
As well, I have 2 other lake houses nearby if this one seems too large.

Perfect property for pets! Completely fenced in. Couldn’t wait to get back to cabin after a day of activities to just sit by the lake and relax! A wonderful experience!! Highly recommend!
Beautiful home. One of the nicest vacation rentals we have encountered. Owner was very responsive, and the lake front, home and grounds were all we had hoped for.
The house is nice and the view/lake/backyard is wonderful. People should know that the house has a horrible smell for the hot water only. The smell of rotten eggs is so strong it smells up the entire house when the hot water is on. The host said that is how all the water in the area smells, but it was only the hot. We had to go somewhere else in the area to shower and there was not a smell with the hot water. It seemed to be a hot water heater issue and not the area's water. Also, the house is left unlocked when you check in. We arrived late and it made us uncomfortable to walk into an unlocked house in the dark.
Everything we needed to enjoy our stay and the host was very responsive and proactive in making sure we got checked in on and had everything we needed.
I celebrated my 70th with family and that live in Island Lake! It’s a great location for me and it’s a beautiful setting. The house is clean comfortable and inviting. The process of renting couldn’t have been easier. Thank you for a perfect weekend!

Thank you for the kind words. So glad you had a nice birthday on the lake!!
My family and I are frequent visitors to the Redwood Cottage and always have a great time.
The weather was great and the fishing right off the dock was amazing.
Ed has always been a great host. We have booked with him for at least 15 years.
The lake house is something of a fairytale. Hugh trees with Spanish moss, an adorable home, and a spectacular view right on the lake. It’s located in the country so you can relax and get a piece of mind.

Thank you for your great comments. All the lake houses in the region have wells. There is no city water. The well water come from the wonderful Florida aquifer so it has a heavy sulfur smell. It is very healthy and not "chemicalized" like city water. Most cities in Florida get their water from the huge aquifers, too. They just spray the water into the air and then add chemicals. We have been drinking the water for decades, but most guests like to bring their own bottled water and our guest files suggest they do that. If you go swimming in the nearby springs, you will really smell the sulfur as it is being released into the spring area. Thanks again.
Thank you Ed. Our family enjoyed our stay. Your home is wonderfully appointed. Great views from the living room. We enjoyed the cool evenings by the fire pit.

Much appreciation for being guests and for your thoughtful words.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the lake house! The house had everything we needed and then some! Ed was amazing to work with and communicated immediately. We most definitely will be back!!! The kids old and young enjoyed the lake so much. Thank you again for the wonderful vacation!!!
We had an amazing time at the lakefront house. The host literally thought of everything for any renter, and the photos don't do the place justice. Plenty of space, clean, and an amazing view. Our pup really loved the fenced yard, too. We definitely plan to come back again in the future!

About the host
Hosted by Edward Wynne
My family has owned property around this area since the late 1940's, and my ancestors came to Florida in 1845, when it was still a territory. It became at state 1848. After extenisve renovations and infrastructure upgrades, I began renting our other 2 lake homes in 2004. I wanted others to enjoy this part of Florida as I did growing up. I have a wonderful local staff that works to ensure that guests are satisfied.
Why they chose this property
I bought this property in 2011 because Island Lake is a stunning body of water. It is THE real natural Florida. Spectacular views, privacy, wooded lot, and no traffic or crowds.
