About this property
Curlew Shack | old school beach house with a contemporary makeover
Curlew Shack by Discover Stradbroke has had a complete renovation inside and out. The addition of a large, friendly, covered outdoor area complete with Weber BBQ, as well as a complete inside re-fit including a new bathroom, has provided a contemporary take on an old style Straddie beach shack.
The main bedroom is air-conditioned and private. The second bedroom also has A/C and doubles as a lounging area.
Just a hop, skip and a jump to Bob's shop, and a 5-minute walk to Cylinder and Deadman's beaches, Curlew is in a great, central location.
Perfect for a weekend away with a young family or a couple with a small dog. The shack has neither wi-fi or TV, so if it's an "unplugged" break you're after, Curlew Shack is the place.
Nestled at the bottom of a sloping block, the shack is shaded by several old gums trees and, as the name suggests, a resident group of Curlews provide constant companionship.
*Please note, there is street parking only between September 2025 - December 2025. The driveway in not accessible.

We love Stradbroke island and had a great time while we were here. A longer stay revealed that it’s fine to not have internet, a tv, a DVD player or phone reception strong enough to hot spot- if that’s your purpose For getting away.
The hot water system is dodgy and the pipes extremely noisy. Would be great to have more pots and pans (there is a frying pan and a pot). The other interesting thing about this cottage is that there is no lounge room. Your communal space is outside rain or shine. It is in a great location (walking distance to Deadman’s Beach) and you get to be on Straddie. The retro decor is really nice.

Hi Karen, thank you for review. We are happy you enjoyed your stay in Curlew shack appreciating that it is an 'unplugged stay' & the design a little quirky! We will certainly ensure that adequate cookware is now provided and will check out the noisy pipes.
