We stayed for a long weekend. We checked in late - and were in a rush to get moving the next morning when I went to do the official check in, so didn't stay and ask questions like I probably should have. The staff we did interact with were very friendly and helpful with the questions I did ask. I didn't realize there were two pools and we went to one the first full day but were looking for another. The resort is large and on steep hills, so not easy to walk from building to building. The required 4 wheel drive Oct-Mar is no joke - the driveways are steep! The cabin itself was a bit dated, but worked perfectly for what we needed. We needed two bedrooms and wanted a pool and hot tub and this place had it all. The pools were tiny - but they existed and we had them to ourselves almost the entire time. I would stay here again.
Location was beautiful. Place had full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, so worked perfect for us. Only complaint was not enough comfortable seating in the living room - only 1 couch and recliner and we had 4 adults. Also had to be okay with condo living and hearing people above you and next to you, but that was minor.
Overall we enjoyed the stay! Check-in was different as there was no information via VRBO and when we arrived to the resort, our name was written on an envelope hanging outside with the key to our room. However, it was the key to another occupied room so we had to exchange for our room. Not sure what we would have done if we had arrived after the office had closed. Internet didn't work until the second or so day we were there. The hot water was very strange- sometimes it was boiling hot immediately, sometimes it took several minutes to heat up. We were very pleased with the amount of kitchen utensils, cookware and dinnerware.. surprised to see a crockpot even! I recommend Pizza Lab for an easy dinner- get the cheese bread!
The red couch and fireplace caught my eye. It looked very inviting. We appreciated the hot tub especially, the kitchen, comfy beds, the table for playing cards and good selection of tv channels. The Black Hills are beautiful and we will definitely come back again
The morning sunrise was amazing and overlooking the mountains. The accommodations were satisfactory a little worn but being a ski resort understandable rough crowd with ski water and overall dirt. Clean and comfortable
