Ideally located in the historic gold-mining township of Blackwood, this charming colonial inn dates back to the 1860s and enjoys scenic mountain views across the beautiful Wombat State Forest.
Full of warmth and character, this historic building offers a unique country retreat with generous living and entertaining spaces while retaining its original charm and atmosphere.
The property comfortably accommodates up to 7 guests and is ideal for families or small groups wanting to relax and enjoy the peaceful forest surroundings.
Inside you will find a large open-plan entertainment layout with formal and informal dining and lounge areas, comfortable furnishings, games, and in-house entertainment facilities. Two fan-forced wood heaters and romantic fireplaces create a warm and cosy atmosphere during cooler months.
The property includes private café facilities and a semi-commercial kitchen, allowing guests to easily prepare meals during their stay.
Guests can relax on the front and rear verandahs or balcony, enjoying the scenic views and fresh forest air. A BBQ is available for outdoor dining, and the large backyard often attracts native wildlife, including the occasional kangaroo.
Quality bedding, linen and towels are provided to ensure a comfortable stay.

Quirky, Charming, centrally placed accommodation. Toasty beds, great kitchen.

Very old fashioned accommodation with open fire and no wi-fi or TV coverage (if that is a problem). Very warm and toasty beds although the bedroom heating was a little light on for the depths of winter.

Quaint property but not disabled friendly

We were looking for a disabled friendly property in that area and came across this property. The bedroom on the upper level is a bit cramped and there is no shower on the bathroom on the top level. While this was communicated to us by the owner, I missed read the email communication, so the error was mine. The property previously operated as tea rooms/ cafe and hence has a commercial kitchen, lots of appliances and entertainment- board games, toys, even kid guitars and a piano! The lack of phone connectivity ( only Telstra services are available) was actually refreshing. It was great for kids and there’s plenty of space so it’s good for big groups, and you can still have somewhere to retreat to for some “me” time. The bathrooms are a bit small, but the whole place has a lot of character and it grew on us. There were Kangaroos in the backyard at night!

Great relaxing stay

My family and I had a wonderful week in Blackwood and the property suited us perfectly. There was enough room for us all to relax and there was great walks and bike trails close by as well. The property was well set up and we had everything we needed in the kitchen. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a place to stay away from the city in a quiet town.

Great weekend in Blackwood

Thanks David and Vera, we had a fantastic stay in Blackwood. House was perfect for our family, cosy, comfy beds, all excellent. Locals are soooo friendly, would highly recommend, even in winter. Can not wait to come back in summer.

Blackwood Cobb and Co

Had a fantastic time staying at Blackwood Cobb and Co in Blackwood, Victoria. Amazing property, great kitchen, cooking facilities, living area with wood fires, plenty of wood and kindling, DVD and some tv, surround sound, board games, ping pong table, piano, guitars.... Bedrooms with en-suite, nice hot water flow, very clean, lovely bedding, olde worlde style. Comfortable, relaxed, warm. Stayed an extra night. A fantastic getaway, felt like more than three days. Didn’t want to leave !!! Thank you David and Vera Collis for such a wonderful place and facilities.

Excellent property for large group
