About this property
Luxury 3BR 3.5BA Home w/ Private Pool & Generator
Sweetcorn House is an elegant 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom contemporary rental located at the top of the main hill in Governor`s Harbour, within a small collection of homes on Governors Estate, where the manor formerly owned by Sir Harold Christie - a trailblazer in Bahamian real-estate history - still stands. Sweetcorn House is part of the distinguished Governor`s Harbour Collection, a select group of top-tier rentals in central Eleuthera.
The ground floor of Sweetcorn House is open and spacious, and features a large and sunny living area, ideal for entertaining. The great room has comfortable lounge seating for families, and a dining room table with seating for eight.
The kitchen is equipped with stainless steel appliances and features an island, with additional bar-chair seating. There is an adjacent powder room and laundry room, complete with washer and dryer.
There are two separate bedrooms on the ground floor, both with private en-suite bathrooms - one is a Queen room and the other, a spacious King Suite, with a mini kitchenette, coffee/tea making supplies and toaster, as well as a separate side entrance.
The top level of Sweetcorn House is devoted entirely to the master King bedroom Suite. This spacious suite features a sitting area, modern bathroom, two private balconies, and a sun deck with views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Sweet Corn House overlooks tropical, landscaped gardens with a private deck and swimming pool, and a casual outdoor dining area. There is a newly added screened in porch to the south of the house. At the guest`s option, the pool can be heated for a fee of $300 per week. Beach/pool towels, beach chairs, a beach umbrella, snorkeling equipment and several cooler bags are provided for guests` use.
Other amenities at Sweetcorn House include ductless air conditioning throughout, large, flat-screen SMART TV, Wi-Fi Internet, Bluetooth speaker, travel crib and high chair, and an outdoor gas grill.
Although Sweetcorn House is offered self-catered, housekeeping services, private chefs and provisioning, and other resources are always available for an additional charge.
The town of Governors Harbour, a three-minute walk down the hill, has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock, or visit the recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897. Governor`s Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, dive shop, and several gift stores.
A stroll downhill from the estate in the other direction leads to French Leave Beach, one of the finest beaches on the island and one of the great beaches of the Caribbean. By foot, it’s about 8 minutes to French Leave, a mile-long crescent of pink sand which is literally deserted most of the time.
The island of Eleuthera is famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. There is excellent sightseeing as well. Eleuthera has vast caves, cliffs, a bottomless ocean hole, many unique beaches, historic churches and 19th century homes, and small villages to explore.
