About this property
Post Office Cottage- relax in peaceful surrounds.
The space
Set on 5 acres along with the main homestead, this charming two bedroom cottage is an ideal quiet and peaceful weekend escape from urban life, featuring an indoor fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and laundry.
This space has been set up to completely relax and wind-down.
The Cottage is fully surrounded by a verandah and is set in its own fenced garden, with a few nooks perfect for sitting with a book and a cuppa or watching the local bird life.
Both bedrooms have queen size beds with a portacot available on request.
Linen, towels and some firewood supplied.
Note: Post Office Cottage is not serviced during stays.
Guest access
Guests will have access to the whole Cottage and its gardens. The cottage is fenced in its own area and garden on the property. Easily accessible from the main driveway with any kind of vehicle.
Interaction with guests
Cassie or Leigh will be available on the property at the homestead, or contactable via the given mobile numbers.
The neighbourhood
Ross Creek is a small residential village surrounded by bushland and native wildlife. It’s the perfect escape from urban life to a more rural setting while barely leaving the convenience and comforts of city life.
There is a small village store selling basic groceries, fuel and takeaway food located just a 5-minute stroll down the road.
Getting around
Post Office Retreat is roughly a 20 minute drive from the Ballarat CBD. There is no public transport available. Taxi services are available, but can be costly.
Roads to the Cottage are completely sealed and are accessible with any kind of vehicle. There is a 2 car carport available exclusively to cottage guests.
Other things to note
There is a lot of wild life local to Ross Creek, including some endangered bird species. Kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, yellow-tailed black cockatoos and parrots are commonly seen on the property.
Most mornings kangaroos commonly are found feeding on grassed areas of the property, including in the fenced area of the Cottage. Please try not to approach these animals.
We have a portacot and high chair available on request. The portacot will be set up with a fitted sheet but all other linen will need to be provided by guests for this (portacot only). Please advise at the time of making your booking if these are required.
House Rules
Check in is anytime after 2PM
Please be aware we have an unfenced dam on the property and any young children would require full adult supervision at all times.
Guests are to wash up any kitchen equipment used and make sure all rubbish is in the bin provided.
Guests are not permitted to have further guests without the host's prior approval.
Smoking is prohibited within the building and near any doorways. Smokers are welcome but please do dispose of cigarette butts thoughtfully, keeping local wildlife in mind.
Any damage to property caused by guests is required to be reimbursed.
