About this property

Cooke Cottage- Right on the Riesling Trail

Our gorgeous stone cottage can sleep up to 6 adults (or 4 adults and up to 4 kids). It has a full kitchen, a separate dining room, smart TV, two wood combustion heaters, a split system, and bathroom complete with full size bath and large shower.

The cottage is nestled alongside the Riesling trail and will suit couples, families or business travellers alike. Sitting in the corner of an acre block, with resident Kookaburras, it makes for a tranquil break to relax, or a base to explore.

Our modern kitchen includes a Nespresso coffee machine, microwave, dishwasher, bar fridge, full size fridge as well as an 800 oven and gas cooktop. Eat around the kitchen bench or in the dining room. Utilise the space to entertain, or cook up gourmet meals for your family. You will find basic supplies of salt, pepper, cooking oil, alfoil, baking paper, gladwrap, vegemite, tea, coffee and sugar in the kitchen.

We have provided crockery and cutlery for 6 as well as plastics for the kids and for outside. A high chair is supplied. A four-burner gas BBQ with hood, is available to cook your bacon and eggs for breakfast or the steaks for tea. The outdoor setting with umbrella, can comfortably seat 8 people. Enjoy your gourmet meal in the expansive backyard, watching the riders and runners on the Riesling trail, or the horses in the neighbouring yard!

Enjoy the two wood combustion heaters in the living areas in winter, and the split system in summer. Sit back in the leather lounges and watch the 55-inch TV, Netflix, or a movie on the DVD player. As well as a Wi-Fi connection to utilise your streaming accounts, we have supplied a range of DVD's. Connect your phone to the sound system in the kitchen and listen to your music or an audio book. You will find books and toys for the kids, as well as a selection of books and games for all the family to enjoy, in the lounge room.

Two bedrooms have queen beds supplied with quality linen, quilts and European pillows as well as bedside tables with reading lights. The third bedroom has 2 sets of bunks - 1 tri bunk with a double bed below and a single bed on top and a set of single bunks - all supplied with quality linen, bedside reading lights and quilts . The single bunks are suitable for children only, whilst the tri bunk can sleep adults. A portacot is available for free for babies and toddlers, but we do not supply bedding for the portacot. The main bedrooms have ceiling fans, whilst the bunk room has a pedestal fan. All bedrooms have fan heaters and extra blankets for winter.

There is a large shower and a full size bath in the bathroom. The toilet is separate.
The laundry has a washing machine for your use, with a clothes line to dry outside, or clothes rack for under the verandah if it is raining. There is an iron and ironing board also. You can find brooms and additional cleaning supplies in the laundry.

Bring your bikes and let the kids ride around the yard or you can ride the Riesling Trail. Clare Valley Cycle Hire is 100 meters down the Trail towards Clare from the cottage- you can hire a range of bikes, including electric bikes, from here.

We aim to provide you with privacy and space to enjoy. You have access to the whole house. However, the bunk room may be shut if you do not need access to this. Our property manager is only 5 minutes away, or you can call, if you have a question or a problem.

We have supplied a comprehensive folder with tourist information as well as further instructions on the cottage.

Please also remember that it is a residential area and some noise discretion is required.

We look forward to hosting you. Enjoy your stay and enjoy the Clare Valley as your base to explore the region.

Other things to note
Please do NOT interact with or feed the neighbours horses.

Feel free to help yourselves to the fruit if there is any on the fruit trees. But please only take what you can eat whilst staying with us.

Please do not take your bikes into the house. Leave these outside around the back of the house under the verandah. Please note that an additional cleaning fee will be incurred should bikes be taken into the house.

It will help our cleaning tasks immensly if you empty the dishwasher and put away all dishes at the end of your stay. You can leave the sheets on the bed. Please leave all dirty towels in the bathroom. Place your empty bottles in the large recycing bin and your general waste in the smaller rubbish bin.

Just the right place
Lovely place to stay, right on the rail trail and within a 20 minute walk to the centre of town. Beautiful grounds and outlook and a lovely modern updated period home with eveything you could need. Hopefully we can visit again, when the multitude of fruit trees are in season.

Comfy Family Cottage
We had a very comfortable stay in this lovely cottage. We stayed for the Mother’s Day weekend and the large country-style kitchen was perfect for prepping a Mother’s Day brunch, which we shared in the beautiful back yard. Our kids loved the bunk room too. A great place for a family getaway.

About the host

Host profile image
Andrew and I are farmers on Yorke Peninsula. We purchased this house for our family to enjoy. We love basing ourselves in the valley and riding along the trail, day tripping to Burra and around the region. We also love the beautiful colours and climate of the Valley.

Why they chose this property

We liked the idea of a place away from the beach, with a cosy fire and some space to run around. We have space around us, whilst only being a 10 minute walk to Clare.

What makes this property unique

A house that caters for both established and young families in the Clare Valley.

Family time away from the hustle and bustle is so important. Doing things together and sharing time helps to bond and is also relaxing.

We have provided a space where you can disconnect from the never ending busyness of life and get back to spending time with your family, talking and laughing.

We have supplied books, puzzzles and games as well as a fabulous kitchen that will allow you to share gorgeous meals together- talk, eat, laugh, play, walk, swim, ride- turn off the phone, the computer and the other electronics and reconnect with your family.
