About this property

The Heart of Oakura Shops & 5-10 min walk to beach & river (cleaning incl)

Tucked away down a drive in the heart of Oakura, lies this old style Hansel and Gretel house. All you need is to stroll up the drive and you have all the funky little cafes, restaurants, bars and 4 square at your finger tips. Or just a 5- 10 minute stroll down the road, you can soak up the beach vibes, sitting at a popular restaurant on the beach called Black Sands, sipping a cold wine or beer while watching the children play on the sand or watching the sunset. If the beach is not where you are at, you can walk a short walk and you will be at the river. Which ever takes your fancy, it is all accessible. If you are up for the surf, just down the road on state highway 45 are all the popular surf breaks.

When you walk into this Hansel and Gretel style house you will feel like its your home away from home. It is not the brand spanking new home that makes you feel like you cannot relax, It is a home that allows you to be you and have the sense of relaxation while on holiday.

There is a great lawn for that back yard cricket and of course all private. Also a trampoline for the kids.

There are two Sleepeouts but these will be locked.

There is room for 4 cars to park down the drive.

The house is fully cleaned after every stay and then disinfected by myself.

CLEANING FEE - This is included in the price, (if you leave the house clean and tidy as you found it).



NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: clean AND vacuum the house and do the dishes before you leave.

Cheerful and pleasant

Thanks for letting us stay at your house. It was an excellent home to meet up with my family — and also to relax after tramping around Taranaki. Lots of space for the eight of us and a big lawn to enjoy the sun in the evening. We had a great time playing in the waves on the nearby beach.

Hi sorry you felt our home was cold. I had put the fire on for you knowing you would be out attending a wedding all evening. Generally if you are not home to keep fire going it will die down and get colder. The house is very warm and toasty when home. Also behind the lounge there is only one shed which has lots of lovely dry firewood. Hopefully your experience next time is better Cheers Mel

Great Place and position Not anywhere clean enough

Was perfect for our needs. Good lawn and spacious property. Off road parking. But dirty kitchen utensils, sticky top on dining table, mould on sun screen blinds. Dirty barbecue Didn't use!! Lounge furniture urgently needs clean over and under. Stuff under beds. Duvet inners marked and FLEAS upstairs. Only one shower over bath and dirty bathroom floor Dish cloth and tea towels dubious so bought our own.

I have been doing book a Bach for a year now and have had fantastic reviews. I am very disappointed with the way Pam has gone through my family home, it is very concerning to say the least and invasion of privacy ..... who does this kind of thing! (You can always find a problem in any dwelling old and new and it just depends on how hard you look). My home is a 1970’s home that is very clean tidy and homely. I have taken on board Pams concerns. Hi everyone welcome to our family home located in the heart of the village shops, Oakura.

We are a family of 5. My name is Mel and I am your host.
A bit about us. We have had our home on book a bach for the last few years and thoroughly enjoyed sharing it with you all. We live in it every other week and love spending time at the beach with the kids.
But over the last 18 months I have been going through an extremely hard cancer journey and have had to put book a bach on hold.
I am now strong enough to open up our beautiful home once again to share with you all.
Oakura is a beautiful place to live and holiday. The people here are super friendly, and the beach and the river is a short 5-10 minute walk.
We can't wait to share our cosy family home with you. Looking forward to having you stay. The house is cleaned and disinfected by myself, so I know it's done properly.

What makes this property unique

Our home is cosy and warm and is in the heart of the village shops. All the beautiful cafes, pub, chemist, bottle store, 4 square and more are at the end of our driveway. Oh and of course R & Co skin and beauty, if you are wanting that relaxing massage. It is only a 5-10 minute walk from the beach. It has a great lawn. There is easy access to as our home as it is on ground level with no steps to get into it.
There is a second level with beds and a toilet, All other amenities including another bedroom are on the ground floor.
