Welcome to LUX BOULDER CABIN, a high-end, luxury townhome ideally situated on Big Boulder Lake in the Pocono Mountains' community of Blue Heron. This exceptional home sits within Big Boulder Ski Resort, and is just a 2-minute drive to the lifts and a 3-minute walk to the Lake Club! It’s also the ONLY completely gutted and renovated rental unit in the entire community! It’s worth noting that one of the owners has been a professional designer for over 30 years, who’s projects have been featured in industry publications and on local radio. To be perfectly candid we are not aware of any rental within the entire Blue Heron Community, that’s even REMOTELY comparable to LUX BOULDER CABIN.
— THE LOCATION —
Roughly 1.5 hours from Philadelphia & NYC, this home is conveniently located on Big Boulder Lake in the Pocono Mountains just minutes from major attractions, including Big Boulder/Jack Frost Ski Resorts, Mount Airy Casino, H2O Indoor Water Park, Camelback Ski & Water Park, Pocono Raceway, Penn’s Peak Entertainment Venue, Crossings Premium Outlets, Jim Thorpe, Split Rock Resort (bowling, arcade, theater), whitewater rafting, paintball, state game lands, and much more.
LUX BOULDER CABIN is not only just a 2-minute drive to the ski lifts, it also has the distinct advantage of being within a short walk to the exclusive Boulder Lake Club! Blue Heron is the very first community built on Big Boulder Lake, so it has the closest proximity to this amazing club, and our guests will have full access to all it has to offer (open 7-days/week Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend and then weekends only through mid-September — weather permitting). The club is a leisurely 3-minute walk on lighted, wooded paths running alongside Big Boulder Lake.
Lake Club access includes a pristine beach beach (groomed daily), where guests swim in the heated pools and crystal clear lake, and play tennis, ping pong, bocci ball, ladder ball, horseshoes, corn-hole, badminton, volleyball, tennis, and more. Guests can also rent kayaks, standup paddle boards, fishing boats, paddle boats, sailboats, and even pontoon boats! The lake often has a giant, blow-up swan and trampoline floating in it. It’s just a festive, resort-like atmosphere, where one can play or just relax with the breathtaking view of Big Boulder Lake as the backdrop. There’s even a Kids Camp!
Note that the overwhelming majority of rental units that mention "access" to the club DO NOT INCLUDE the passes required to access it — They pass the cost onto their guests, which can cost well over $200. We, on the other hand pay a hefty, one-time, guest-pass fee, which INCLUDES 8 passes to the Boulder Lake Club (additional pass can be purchased directly from the club). This saves our guests money and the hassle of having to purchase them. So, when comparing rates, read competitors' fine print, and factor in the cost.
Boulder View Tavern is also located at the Lake Club, and is open year-round. It offers great food, indoor and outdoor dining, amazing views of Big Boulder Lake, live entertainment, and a fun outdoor bar right on the beach. Boulder View Tavern is our go-to place even during the ski season, but there are many other bars/restaurants a short walk or drive away. Sometimes it's just nice having the convenience of not having to step foot in a vehicle.
All that said, the best feature of LUX BOULDER CABIN is indeed the location, but that’s where the WOW stops on every other Blue Heron vacation rental currently available. Read on to see what separates LUX BOULDER CABIN from the rest.
— THE LUX DIFFERENCE —
The Blue Heron Community was built in the early 80’s, and aside from this unit, all of the other BH rentals look like it on the inside. Granted, some have had bandaids, but those don’t look much better.
The owners are proud to offer the ONLY unit that has been completely gutted and renovated with a timeless, sophisticated design. Even the doors and windows are new (interior and exterior). LUX also has central AC (the overwhelming majority of Blue Heron units DO NOT have AC).
Being that it's a designer home, it's outfitted in a highly-functional manner with high-end... EVERYTHING! From the quality furniture to the hand-forged hooks lining the hallway, rest assured knowing you will be staying somewhere special, that makes you FEEL like you’re on vacation.
Details about the spaces follow...
— THE ENTRYWAY —
Upon entering LUX BOULDER CABIN guests immediately realize they are in a designer home, and can't help being captivated by the overall look and feel. A multitude wood species combine with dark metals and geometric shapes to provide an eclectic yet cohesive warmth. The overall style is a sophisticated mix of contemporary and rustic, keeping true to both its architecture and natural surroundings. The perspective of the hovering spherical pendant, embroidered deer head, and distant window with views of the woods, draws guests into the main living space.
— THE GREAT ROOM —
As guests enter the open-concept great room, they continue to be awed. White shiplap covering the ceiling and back wall provides subtle texture, while allowing all the various wood tones to shine. The space is comprised of kitchen, bar, dining, and living areas, and just feels right.
The high-end kitchen boasts a substantial wood beam, dovetailed maple cabinets, granite counters, tiled backsplash, massive sink, new appliances, and a bar that seats 6. It’s also fully stocked with dishware, drinkware, silverware, cooking utensils, pots, pans, blender, coffee maker, tea kettle, etc. Just bring your food and you’re good to go! A concealed washer and dryer are conveniently just off the kitchen.
The dining area seats 8 more at a beautiful, custom table. A super cool, schoolhouse pendant hovers overhead, and is flanked by custom pine shelves with hand forged iron brackets. Aside from anchoring the room and looking gorgeous, the shelves along with the storage bins allow guests to stow away items that would otherwise crowd the space. Beneath the shelves hangs intricate wood and metal artwork, further pulling together all the various wood tones.
The living room has a vaulted ceiling with skylight, and custom designed canvases of local wildlife merged with landscapes. A large coffee table melds together a massive sectional sofa and two swivel club chairs. A 55” Smart TV with a direct-wire, ethernet connection to high-speed internet (1GB/sec) hangs above the wood burning fireplace (firewood included — Roughly Nov. to March). Roku speakers provide outstanding sound!
The kitchen, dining and living areas are combined, so everyone in the entire space can comfortably enjoy each other’s company, the TV, and the fireplace. Even the lighting was well thought out with perfectly placed, beautiful fixtures on dimmers. This is a warm, sophisticated space that lives large.
There are also three tastefully designed, themed bedrooms and two luxurious, full baths. Two of the bedrooms have connecting bathrooms, which equates to two master bedrooms! How sweet is that?
— BEDROOM & BATHROOM 1 —
Lux-Rustic Bedroom is conveniently located on the 1st floor with a queen bed and luxurious bedding. Outfitted with authentic Spanish furniture, barn doors with hand forged hardware, and a large Bucks County barn wood mirror, this room needed a something truly special to anchor it all. The solution was a winter wonderland wall mural custom-designed by the owner. This room really just makes guests FEEL like they’re on vacation in the mountains. It also has a 37” Smart TV and private access to the stunning downstairs bathroom.
The show-stoppers of the downstairs bathroom are the mosaic marble tiled shower, and high-end fixtures. Squares and rectangles are the reoccurring and unifying shapes in this contemporary, spa-like bathroom. The rain-shower head makes for a refreshing bathing experience. Chair-height toilets were selected for both bathrooms.
— BEDROOM & BATHROOM 2 —
The Lux-Treehouse Bedroom is the largest of the 3 bedrooms and is located on the 2nd floor. While relaxing in the upholstered king bed, guests feel like they are high up in the mature trees just outside the windows. A restored, antique dresser melds perfectly with other quality furnishings and custom designed artwork to give this room an eclectic, yet sophisticated vibe. A custom-built desk provides a quiet workspace. The room is equipped with a 37” TV and has private access to an equally stunning bathroom.
Speaking of the upstairs bathroom — It ’s gorgeous. Sleek black tiled floors and walls are the perfect backdrop for the high-end, marble vanity with double sinks, and the sculptural vessel tub. The bathroom is completed with a new shower with soothing rain shower head.
— BEDROOM 3 —
Lux Lodge Bedroom has a massive, log bunk (Twin-XL over Queen) with tons of headroom down below, so kids can hang out in comfort and enjoy the 50” LED Smart TV. There’s also an upholstered daybed with trundle providing additional seating. Small balcony has views of mature trees and the lake.

About the host
Hosted by Dominic
Thank you for considering a stay at our home we affectionately refer to as LUX BOULDER CABIN.
My name is Dominic and I, along with my wife, Stacy, are the owners/operators. We don't use managers or management companies. This equates to MUCH better overall guest experience, as there is no slow-to-respond "middle-man" getting in the way.
I have been a professional designer for over 30 years, and my projects have been featured in industry publications and on local radio. I poured every ounce of my passion for design into this amazing space, and I thrive on creating environments everyone can enjoy.
Please note that we also offer a brand new property in Atlantic City and that listing can be found here https://www.vrbo.com/4479925ha
We are proud to offer the ONLY Blue Heron unit that has been completely gutted and renovated in a timeless, sophisticated design. Even the doors and windows are new (interior and exterior). We also added a state-of-the-art heat pump/AC system (the overwhelming majority of Blue Heron units DO NOT have AC).
Because this is a designer home, it is outfitted in a highly-functional manner with high-end everything. From the high-quality furniture to the hand-forged hooks that line the hallway, guests can rest assured knowing they are staying somewhere special, that makes them feel like they’re on vacation.
We also decked out the place with 4 Smart TVs, a Roku wireless speaker system, and super-high speed internet (1GB/Second)!
To be perfectly candid we are not aware of any rental within the entire Blue Heron Community, that’s even REMOTELY close to being comparable to LUX BOULDER CABIN.
Thank you again for considering a stay at our home!
Very Best Regards,
Dominic, Stacy, Super Dom, & Eva

Why they chose this property
Aside from being the only completely renovated property in the Blue Heron Community LUX BOULDER CABIN is just a 2-minute drive to the lifts at Big Boulder Ski Resort, it also has the distinct advantage of being within a 3-minute walk to the exclusive Boulder Lake Club! You see, Blue Heron is the very first community built on Big Boulder Lake, and as such, it has the closest proximity to this amazing club, and our guests will have full access to all it has to offer (Summer months). It’s a leisurely 3-minute walk on lighted, wooded paths running alongside Big Boulder Lake.
Lake Club access includes a pristine beach beach (groomed daily), where guests can swim in the heated pools and/or the lake, and play tennis, ping pong, bocci ball, ladder ball, horseshoes, corn hole, badminton, volleyball, tennis, and more. Guests can also rent kayaks, standup paddle boards, fishing boats, paddle boats, sailboats, and even pontoon boats! The lake often has a giant trampoline floating in it. It’s just a festive, resort-like atmosphere, where one can play or just relax with the breathtaking view of Boulder Lake as the backdrop.
Note that the overwhelming majority of rental units mentioning access to the club DO NOT INCLUDE the passes required to access it — They pass the cost onto their guests, which can cost well over $200. We, on the other hand pay a hefty guest-pass fee, which INCLUDES 8 passes to the Boulder Lake Club (additional passes can be purchased directly from the club). So, when comparing rates, read competitors' fine print, and factor in the cost.
Also, the lifts at Big Boulder Ski Resort are just a 2-minute drive away! One pass gives guests access to both Big Boulder and Jack Frost Ski Resorts, so guests can ski both with the same ticket. Big Boulder offers day/night skiing and tubing, and Jack Frost has a bit more runs, but does not have night skiing. It’s fun to just ski both, if you have the time.
