A wonderful stay in Dunedin in Maori Hill. A large house with lots of room and well heated - we had some chilly days. The house had everything we needed.
The house was spacious, with large bedrooms and a fully appointed kitchen. It was unseasonably cold when we were there mid-January, but the two heat pumps and three oil column heaters provided were very effective.

Was as promised nice and clean.
Good instructions, comfy beds.
This was a lovely house and a beautiful neighborhood that made a great home base exploring Dunedin for a few days. Lots of room for us and our two kids to spread out and relax at the end of the day.
Lovely and clean.
Very good shower, everything well labelled and easy to find.
Once we warmed up the house it was most comfortable.
Big house in a beautiful setting.
Plenty of room at the property, very clean and comfortable. Very handy as 5 minutes drive to the CBD shops and restaurants. Helen is so accommodating and friendly. We had everything we needed for our break.

The kitchen decor was a tad dated, but this house is so perfectly stocked and set up for a stay. Shower was lovely, everything provided, well stocked kitchen utensils etc. Just bring yourselves. It was cold while we visited Dunedin but the heat pumps warmed the house.
A nice place for a few days. It was cold when were there, but the heat pumps (2) worked well. And there’s an actual fireplace in the lounge and wood.
The manager lives nearby - mostly a good thing 😊. Any queries easily addressed. We’d stay again.

Good location and house has everything you need. Clean and tidy. On street parking only and steep path and stairs to front door which while okay for our group might not be suitable for everyone. Generally a quiet area - unfortunately the three nights we were there someone close by had very loud music blasting until the early hours which wasn't ideal.
The house is nestled in a beautiful, tranquil garden. The house itself has stunning printed high ceilings and had everything we needed to make our stay memorable. I would recommend letting guests know beforehand there's no off-street parking and the walk up to the house is on quite a steep incline making it quite difficult for people with disabilities or the aged. All taken into consideration we would love to stay there again.
I booked for 6 of us to stay at this home but in the end only 3 of the 6 adults were able to stay through to illness and bereavement. The home was nice and tidy with everything we needed.
Having a disability, I wish on the listing that it had stated that there is a very steep path and several steps up to the house but I managed in the end, and used the back door which was easier access. It was a very quiet area and close to our venue, milk in the fridge would be helpful but we just made do as we were there for a very short time just to sleep and go. Thank you.
Beautiful, spacious, well maintained, clean and well resourced house. Bedsheets and beds were so clean and comfortable. Kitchen had all basics like all the cutlery, salt, sugar, tea, coffee, some sauces, dishwasher, fridge, oven, micro, washing machine, dryer, 2 separate toilets and a separate bathroom with hair dryer, shampoo, body wash, towels, house had provision of heaters and electric blankets. Shower had nice hot water available all the time due to gas powered. The best part is that the owner lives right in top so available for anything needed. Just that the car needs to be parked on the road and a slight 40sec walk up the ramp to the house which isn't hard but just good to know.. the flood lights or outside lights could have a censor in case of walking in the night. Helen was lovely. We stayed for 8 nights and 9 days. My son had a great time playing and watching TV in the spacious house. We would love to come back.
The house was easy and clean, amazing water pressure in the shower. Warm and comfy beds. Will come again when in Dunedin thanks Helen

About the host
Hosted by Helen
I am Helen, my family has been living in Dunedin for over twenty years. I love Dunedin! I like walking, sewing, cross-stich, gardening and cleaning. Maybe my real love is in learning and teaching, since I really enjoy finding myself in progress or somebody else improved with my help. I am a follower of Jesus, and this is the most important part of my life. I have changed a lot since I became a christian in 1998, not even myself could ever imagine . I was always the top student in primary school, high school and university---but knowing nothing about babies before I was 26 and had my first baby, never cooked a meal until my first daughter was 12 years old. Not because I was so rich that I did not need to do these chores, only because I thought I did not have the ability to do these. Before I often ashamed of myself ---being a mom, yet could not even cook or drive. Now I changed, I look after four children( our three kids, and one Japanese girl), and also do the Air B&B cleaning myself. A change that beyond my imagination, a change that my husband and my children can feel, and I noticed myself too. I become more peaceful, more joyful, more rational, and more relax. All these changes because I know, there is the God. He loves me, He cares me, and He has the power to change me. In the past, I was so easy to get stressed and worried, but not now. When I am troubled by something, I often remind myself to ask help from God, stop worrying and hand the burden over to God. Believe me, it's a long journey, but it really worth it! If you are someone who want to change, why not give God a chance? It's free, and you won't be disappointed I am sure. By the way, I am good at maths and logic. I graduated from computer-science, but I don't like computers :( . Please do not ask me any questions about computer, I often need my kids' help when my computer or cell phone goes wrong. Thanks for taking time to read my personal stories. Best Regards Helen
Why they chose this property
The house built in 1924 with beautiful ceilings, Rimu floorings and generous space for everyone. Very sunny spot with oil heaters in every room to ensure the warmth in cold days. Well equiped kitchen for cooking.
It has two big gardens: the front one is amazing with so many flower trees and flower bushes.
Best location in Maori Hill, 20min walk to city centre, hospitals, Dunedin top schools and university. Also many beautiful walks and famous gardens around.
Because the house is beside the native forest(town belt), you can see lots of native birds and hear different beautiful birdsongs, like wood pigeons, Tui, fantails etc. Must have a short walk along Queen Drive so you can be immersed in the native trees and have a wonderful view to the harbour and Peninsula.
Extremely quiet street, since people normally walk to everywhere instead of driving. Pure fresh air all day long. People are very friendly here.
Getting around: There is a bus stop two minutes walk away to university and downtown. There are plenty of parking space in front of the house along the street. The street is very quiet and safe, very few traffic.
