About the host
Hosted by Marcie French
We work in the medical field and live here in Ashland. Our practice is in Redding, California. We love travel and fine dining, and love meeting new people. We hope you love our Victorian home as much as we do!
Why they chose this property
We hope you enjoy our lovely Victorian Vacation home! This home has drawn our attention for years, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was called the 'Coleman-Mulit' home, and was built in 1900 by Mr. John Coleman.
The Register states, 'John Coleman purchased this lot from G.W. Gillette in 1899 and soon thereafter the local newspaper noted, 'John Coleman will immediately build on his Church Street lot. He plans a substantial residence and foundations are already underway.' {Ashland Tidings, 22-Jun-1899, 3:1} Coleman, operated a canning plant in Ashland with his brother. He sold this house in 1904. In 1906 Lloyd and Gertrude Mulit purchased the property, which they retained as their residence until 1924. The Coleman-Mulit House is a large two-story vernacular ell with a projecting front gable, accented by a full-height projecting bay. Modest Queen-Anne detailing is evident in the complex form, eave bracketry and the 'pent' roof'
