Great stay for the family!
We really enjoyed this property for being exactly as described and for the owner’s responsiveness to our questions. It Is literally a 2 minute walk to the bus stop. I downloaded the RTA MOBILE app which is for the transit system and could see how far the next bus was and time our walk to the stop about 5 min from ETA and it was perfect. Even if you’re waiting there’s a bench you can sit on. It was about a 15-20 min ride to Canal St where you could walk to all the downtown sites. I liked the safety of the neighborhood vs staying on Bourbon or Canal and enjoyed several restaurants on Magazine st. (Our faves were Joey K’s, Red Dog Diner, & Rum House). There’s a Walgreens and Breaux Market (grocery) for waters etc. about 2 bus stops away. We didn’t drive the car at all except to our swamp excursion otherwise we used our multi day jazzy passes for the bus. The house is clean and hospitable and full of character. It IS a shotgun style house so you walk into living room—second bedroom—master bedroom—kitchen—-laundry hall—-bathroom. One thing to note is the shower is on the small side and my hubby who is 6’3” was slightly cramped. But he didn’t complain and there’s a huge bathtub if you can’t hack it. The hosts stock the house y’all—plenty of toilet paper, paper towels, even shampoo/conditioner, laundry supplies. Seriously this is the best stocked rental I’ve ever stayed at—even SPICES in the kitchen. Charlie gave us some great suggestions about live music venues and other general questions. I love the keypad entry so nothing to keep up with and (to lose)! Lots to love. Thank you so much!!

Perfect location and the best host!
We had our first trip to New Orleans and were fortunate to find the perfect spot right off Magazine Street. It was just the right size and very clean, which is a must for me. The best part was the host. Charlie is so awesome. He responds quickly to any question you might have and offers great suggestions on locations to check out while in town. I would definitely stay here again. Nice quiet neighborhood and easy access to multiple shops and eateries.

Snug base in a great location.
Quiet neighborhood but bars, great food, grocery, drugstores within blocks. Found parking everywhere with ease. Quick access to all parts of the city. Slept great and kitchen and washer and dryer were super handy. Would tuck in here again anytime.

Absolutely Perfect!
This place is absolutely amazing! The shotgun style home was perfect for me and my 3 girlfriends for 4 nights. There were enough beds (2 of us shared the large bed) and all were extremely comfortable. The sheets and blankets were divine! The location can't be beat - one block to Magazine Street, where you can find great restaurants and shopping all within walking distance. I really enjoyed this neighborhood the most of all those I visited. Charlie, the host, was incredibly responsive and even helped get us ensure the package we had delivered was taken care of. The record player was a nice touch. When I come back to NOLA, I'm definitely staying here again. Thank you so much for the lovely stay!

Great convenient Garden District location.
I just loved this place. Great location steps to the amazing Magazine Street where there is lots of boutique shopping and restaurants also it is close to the streetcar. I immediately felt at home. The kitchen is well equipped and it was really helpful to have the washer and dryer. Beds are comfortable. Literally on the corner of Magazine Street where there is 3 miles of boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and gift shops. Two grocery stores are in close proximity, Breaux Mart on Magazine and Fresh Market on St. Charles Avenue. There is also a Walgreens drug store on Magazine. Easy to get to the French Quarter on the Street Car for just $1.25 per ride. I totally enjoyed taking long walks around the Garden District where this apartment is located, taking photos of the grand homes. I prefer staying Uptown in the Garden District where this is located as it is so pleasant with all the oak trees everywhere and it is away from the tourist crowds but when I felt like mingling it was so easy to get to those areas. Internet worked well as did the air con and everything in the apartment. It is a traditional “shot gun” style home, that is a New Orkeans term for all the rooms being in a row, one after the other until you get to the back of the house. Lots of room here. I will definitely be staying here again without a doubt.

About the host

Host profile image
I'm all about music, food, fun, and quirky culture...which makes New Orleans a perfect fit for me. My wife Emily and I love hosting like-minded people and helping newcomers experience just how rad this city is when they venture off of sticky smelly Bourbon Street.

Why they chose this property

We bought this house in 2011 because it needed our love and attention! Since then, we have rehabilitated and restored its historical charm with a keen eye to preservation of its unique history (a carpenter named Henry Meyer built this house and the one next door--by hand--way back in 1874!). The owner-occupied double "shotgun" house now features all the convenient comforts of a newly constructed home while preserving its place in history.

What makes this property unique

The property is only steps away from Magazine Street in one of the most bustling and cultured enclaves of the city.
