Incredible home for our extended family vacation. Beautiful home, beautiful ocean front views and great overall location just outside Sooke. Excellent host - always quick to reply to any of our questions and the house was well stocked (eg towels, linens, laundry & soap, kitchen staples etc etc). We’d be back every summer if we could - we loved out time at the Sea Lion Estate!
Beautiful setting & wonderful house for large family get together. Very quiet, comfortable bedrooms - all ensuite. We enjoyed the huge projector room - there was truly something for everyone!
Sea Lion Estate was an absolutely wonderful place to stay. It’s beautifully situated in a quiet, private setting right on the ocean, which made it incredibly peaceful and relaxing. The estate itself is very well set up, with everything thoughtfully arranged to make the stay comfortable and easy. The kitchen was especially well-equipped, making it simple to prepare meals without needing anything extra. The linens were high quality, and the beds were very comfortable, which made for great nights of rest.Overall, it’s a perfect spot for anyone looking to unwind in a serene coastal setting. I would definitely stay here again.

Overall, this place is as advertised…stunning location with large, beautiful home. It worked wonderfully for our birthday celebration. Clean, well furnished kitchen. Plumbing assistance needed in the a.m., help arrived in the afternoon.
Absolutely fabulous property and location. We all loved it.

The house was beautiful and the setting spectacular. The kitchen was a delight for the very talented chefs. The spit of land at low tide was a special discovery for our budding naturalists. When we arrived, we expected to meet our host but he was not there. There was no key, and the house was unlocked.I am limited and have difficulty with steps, many of which are without railings. I don't know how you could put this in the description, and I am in a small minority of your customers. All in all, we had a wonderful week. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Ruth was a wonderful guest and an absolute pleasure to host. She and her group treated the property with care and left it in great condition. Communication was friendly and respectful throughout their stay. We appreciate her thoughtful feedback and would be delighted to welcome Ruth back to Sea Lion Estate anytime. Highly recommended to other hosts!
Couldn’t have been a better stay. The property is one of a kind and perfect for our group; one of us surfed while the rest watched and ate breakfast from the house. Great memories were made and we couldn’t recommend the experience enough.
We had a family reunion and loved the property and location. The house is very well equipped for a large party who love to cook amd spend time together. Lots of activities near by - fishing, spa, hiking.
Our family vacation to Sooke featured a hike to Mystic Beach and a morning swim at the potholes. Sea Lion Estate tied it all together in a fabulous bow - it is an amazing property! The view, the privacy, the kitchen and harvest table, the bedrooms, the hot tub…I could go on. I’ll simply say we hope to come back someday.
The house is very tastefully done. It is warm, cozy, both classy and casual, impeccably maintained, top notch customer service, beautiful and peaceful location, and a very caring owner.
The family is already planning our return next year.
You must try it!!!!!
Our family, 12 people ages 6 months though 68, spent an incredible 8 days at the Sea Lion Estate. The pictures do not do this property justice. Amazing ocean views from every window, it is a peaceful quiet place. We had the absolute perfect family get away, none of us wanted to leave. Beach is amazing to walk along, we watched bald eagles fly by every day, watched seals in the ocean and bunnies and deer on the lawn. House is so comfortable and homey for families, each bedroom had their own bathroom, kitchen is well appointed with any pot, pan, or dish you would need. We have been staying at VRBO properties for years...this one was magical.

Carolyn and her family were so lovely! During their stay the communication was excellent!! Upon check out the house was left so clean and tidy!
It was such a pleasure hosting such a great family!
We hope to see them back again in the future .
As a host is so nice to have wonderful guests such as them.
This large well-appointed home gave our extended family of 10 adults and 5 young children plenty of space to be together and to find some space apart. We loved walking down to the beach, picking blackberries, enjoying all our fine cooking, throwing frisbees on the large lawn, and paddle boarding up the little river. I wish they'd have provided a dish drainer (in addition to the 2 dishwashers!), but honestly, that might be my only complaint!
It was a lovely home. Initially, we were locked out of the area where the gym, the pool table, and the big washers were. When we had trouble with the tiny upstairs washer, they opened the area with the big ones. It made a huge difference in our comfort. This is the first home in the 8 that we have rented through VRBO that didn't have directions available on how to use the various equipment in the kitchen and throughout. It would have really helped as this house had some unusual fixtures in it.
Our 4 night stay at Sea Lion Estate was a wonderful experience for our family’s Christmas get together. The kitchen is very well stocked with dishes and cutlery for many more people than 16, numerous kitchen tools and cooking pots/pans, and many small appliances. We did find the oven a bit small for our 17 lb. turkey but we managed. The children enjoyed the grounds -running around on the grass in front and exploring the beach. They also liked their own hang-out room, the TV/games room below the loft bedroom. The hot tub was well used and the group of sea lions that visited each day was a bonus. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, plus there’s an extra bathroom just off the pantry. Jamie, the host, was very easy to communicate with.

Colin and his guest were such a pleasure to host ! Great communication, the house was nice and tidy upon checkout! He highly recommend Colin as a guest and look forward to hosting them again in the future
We were a family of 16 and rented the Sea Lion Estate along with the smaller cottage on the property. We had enough room for 2 to 3 more people, but some of us like our space and quiet time, so this worked perfectly for our family. The property is gorgeous! Very clean and fully equipped. We did cold plunging in the ocean. A nice family night by the fire. Many walks along the beach. We saw oyster catchers, eagles, and many herons flying by. It truly is a special property; we were sad to leave. Thank you to the Hosts for a fabulous time,Lori
The beautiful house was clean with everything you would need. The view, the ocean, the sea lions and eagles that visited every day was icing on the cake. You will not be disappointed.
The house was beautiful, the property was gorgeous, and it was wonderful to get away and smell the salty air and relax!

Why they chose this property
Sea Lion Estate is surrounded by the rugged beauty that makes Vancouver Island’s West Coast so special. The setting is peaceful and secluded, with ocean, forest and wildlife all around you, yet the town of Sooke is only about 15 minutes away for groceries, restaurants and local shops.
What we enjoy most about the area is how much there is to experience without losing that sense of escape. Spend the day exploring nearby beaches such as French Beach, Mystic Beach and Sombrio Beach, hike through coastal forests, visit Sheringham Point Lighthouse or swim and explore the trails at Sooke Potholes.
Continue west and you’ll find Jordan River and, farther along, Port Renfrew and Botanical Beach. The drive itself is part of the experience, with beautiful ocean views and countless opportunities to stop and explore.
What makes this property unique
What makes Sea Lion Estate truly special is the combination of privacy, history, natural beauty and space. Set along more than 700 feet of exclusive waterfront, the estate feels like a private West Coast retreat surrounded by ocean, forest and wildlife.
Originally built in 1928, the main house has a character and sense of place that is difficult to replicate. Guests can watch for orcas and seals from the property, see eagles soaring overhead, explore the shoreline, or simply relax in the hot tub and take in the ocean views.
Inside, the home is designed for gathering, with six bedrooms, six bathrooms, generous living spaces and a gourmet kitchen featuring premium appliances and a distinctive La Cornue range.
Perhaps most uniquely, Sea Lion Estate even has its own private helipad, allowing guests to arrange a spectacular arrival or scenic helicopter experience along Vancouver Island’s coastline.
It’s the rare combination of a luxury home, expansive private waterfront and the untamed beauty of Vancouver Island’s West Coast that makes a stay at Sea Lion Estate so memorable.
