About this property

cosy and cute self contained hut

Our cosy and cute self contained hut is peacefully tucked away amongst farmland and is just a 15min walk to the beach. A highlight of our property is unwinding in the outdoor bath underneath the stars!

Our hut is an ideal location for a stopover on the stunning Southern Scenic Route.

The space - This is a romantic cosy private hide away.

Clean & tidy self contained Hut on a large 1/4 acre section with native planted gardens.

Studio Layout. Queen bed, lounge, kitchenette. The hut size is 8m x 3m

Shower & toilet are accessed via the deck

The deck is a great space for sunbathing, meditation, yoga & outdoor dinning.

Outdoor Bath - relax & unwind in the outdoor bath under the stars = bliss (there is hot water running to the bath).

A great Hut near the coast, private and peaceful, nice but casual & a little bit special.

Kitchen basics. Mini oven, hotplate, fridge, kettle & toaster.

Bedding and towels are provided.

A selection of herbal teas and plunger coffee are included as well as milk and a variety of spreads, sauces, oils and condiments.

Whilst our cosy wee hut only has a queen size bed, we are happy for you to use your own small tent outside on the lawn if you are travelling with children. Or there is space at the foot of the bed for a port-a-cot if you are travelling with a little one.

Please note: the section is not fully fenced (in regards to dogs and small children). There is an area behind the toilet where the neighbours fence is just 1 electric fence across; not a full fence.

Take in the rural views and serenity... no wifi!

Well-behaved pets are most welcome to come with you to the Southern Scenic Stargazer. They are however not to be inside.

Also dogs are not to be left unsupervised on the property. Our property is almost fully fenced (there is a small section behind the bathroom that has only 1 electric fence across so a small dog could get under but then can't go far). There is a large shed on the property where your pet will be cosy at night time. Please do notify us when booking that you are bringing pets with. Any evidence of pets being inside will incur a $150 cleaning fee.

ATTN Te Araroa trail walkers: we have a laundry on site which you are welcome to use. The large shed on our property is also the perfect space to hang and dry your hiking gear, jackets, tents etc. Plus we have the outdoor bath which is just what your sore muscles will need after all that tramping!

Other things to note:
Robes (to keep you cosy as you walk out to the loo in the night). The bed has a high quality memory foam mattress. We have also just installed a heat pump so the Hut is super cosy. And a gas califont system means the shower is amazing!

Quiet retreat

Repeat guest, this still remains the best place to stay in Riverton for a secluded little getaway. Exactly as described, and even with the inclement weather this visit, still didn't put a dampener on our chilled out weekend. Still even managed to get a soak in the outside bath in.

Awesome crib, close to Riverton. Clean and tidy, and all the necessary amenities. Really nice and cosy, great bedding and bed, and nice and private. Short walk to town, and Riverton is a great spot in a beautiful area. Recommended.

We loved staying in this cute little cottage set amongst the native plantings and really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and privacy. The cottage had everything we needed, with a very comfy bed and shower with great water pressure. Loved walking along the beach collecting shells and exploring the wild, windy and totally beautiful pebble beach beyond Riverton. Wonderful place for a nature loving couple to stay. peaceful and relaxing

We stayed for 4 nights in this lovely little spot. It was everything that we expected and more. Bonus the big shed to dry out our camping gear after travelling down the WesCoast in the rain. We had lovely weather, enjoyed the outdoor bath and everything we needed was there. And you let us bring our dog, so thank for sharing your little piece of paradise. Definitely worth a visit and a great base to explore Invercargill and Bluff areas.

Fabulous peace after crazy three years

Very cosy. Everything needed was right there. Comfortable bed. Kept warm with heat pump. If you want to get away and commune with nature in peace and quiet this is for you. Fabulous local coffee bars and exceptional restaurant at Orepuki. Very friendly locals. We loved it!

Glamping!

The Cosy Cute Hut was just as described! Cosy, cute and in a wonderful setting. Unfortunately the weather did not allow us to make use of the picnic table but we did use the tub! Walking into town along the beach was wonderful. It was a great base for us to explore the Catlin's and Doubtful Sound and come back to peaceful surroundings. It could use some storage room for our clothes (we moved some things from a drawer into a bag and stored it under the bed during our stay).

If I could give more than 5 stars I would

Amazing little crib getaway. The place is well looked after, has everything that you could need and as many reviews state, the outdoor bath is the final finishing touch. Even managed a shooting star or two. Can not recommend this place enough. I know we all say we'll be back, but I'll put money on it this time. Chris, Jo and Ollie the dog.

what a break!

Fantastic- the bach was gorgeous & cosy, the shower water pressure was wonderful & the gas hot water neverending!! The highlight was viewing the stars from the outdoor bath. Only down side was the area it was in- thought it was nearer the water than in town- but this all faded into insignificant after the outdoor bath!!!!

We are excited to be sharing our rustic wee hut with you and sharing a stunning part of New Zealand with you! We all have a huge passion for travelling (most recently was in the Phillipines on motorbike), but our favourite place to be is either camping in the Catlins, or having a beer in the sun at our hut in beautiful Riverton.

Right now Hayley and Nathan are back in Europe where they work on superyachts. And any spare time sees Shelley and Myron down at the beach or in the countryside on crazy muddy tracks on their motorbikes!
