Wonderful house for a nice family weekend getaway! The house has everything you need. We spent the majority of our time around the fire or exploring the woods and creek with grandkids. I've stayed at this house previously on a girl's trip as well and we had a great time!

Beautiful quiet cottage

It was a very nice quiet place to stay! The kids loved it, we caught crawfish like crazy everyday i think we spent more time in the creek then inside.

Relaxing Stay

Enjoyed this adorable cabin in the woods. The house was very clean and the grounds with the creek and mini waterfall exposed a very relaxing environment . Unfortunately it was too hot and humid to sit outside but we still enjoyed the view from the inside.

Return visit

This was our second visit, and just as lovely as the first! Our family had a great time at the house and exploring the local area hiking. The owners are great at communicating and make expectations clear and easy to follow, one of our favorite rental experiences!

Beautiful!

The adults kept repeating, “Perfect!” The grandchildren want to LIVE at Fox Haven. The house was clean and cozy. We were celebrating Easter and a birthday, and the kitchen had everything we needed for our feasts. When we insisted that the kids come inside, they appreciated the selection of games and puzzles. But the highlights by far were outside - the creek, the woods, the firepit! Absolutely beautiful and SO MUCH fun!

Simply perfect holiday!

We have frequented vacation rentals and I must say that this rental was the best! Every little detail was well thought out. We don't have any complaints! It sure was a fun Christmas weekend! Loved the stream and the grounds! Went on short hikes even though the temp was 0! Will rent again!

Fantastic

Such an amazing property, house & experience. Family reunion of sorts with grandparents who live far away, & this was the perfect spot. We enjoyed exploring the creek & nearby woods, the fire pit, well stocked kitchen, super cozy feel & just being together. The owners were wonderful to work with, & you can tell this property is a labor of love for them. Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

Home away from Home

Amazing! Justin and Noelle's "Fox Haven" is a beautiful home on an incredible property. My wife and I enjoyed the invaluable time spent with our children and grandchildren. Our visit was for two days with a party of 9 that included 4 grandsons 5 and under. They loved the property, the woods, and serene mountain stream. The whole family went to Idlewild Park just a few minutes away, but I think all of us could not wait to return to "Fox Haven", our home away from home. I could not ask for a better place to spend with my family while traveling and wish to thank Noelle and Justin. "Fox Haven" will be our destination vacation home again in the near future.

all around PERFECT

There are seriously no words to describe how amazing this place is...and the owners could not have been more accommodating throughout the entire process. It felt like home from the moment we stepped through the door. The open layout was perfect for hanging out and playing games, and the outdoor space was awesome for enjoying the fire pit after hiking up the beautiful mountain. The sound of the stream flowing was just the perfect touch to the scenery. The kitchen had all the supplies we could ask for and more, and the kids could not get enough bumper pool! As much as we enjoyed the snow, I'm sure it is just as beautiful and entertaining in the summer...we are already trying to plan a weekend to go back!

A little slice of perfection tucked away in the Hills of PA!

This was our first experience at Fox Haven and I look forward to our next trip here! This place is fair priced, and is well taken care of by the owners. All of the descriptions and photos are 100% accurate (as of this writing), but they don’t do this place justice. The “family” atmosphere created by the open kitchen and dining room is perfect for our family get away. There is a nice little stream out the back that our kids had a blast in all weekend. Sadly, some of their cloths will need to be replaced due to too much fun! Every night, we were able to sit for hours around the very large outdoor fire pit. It had to have been the best part of the weekend. This place is one you shouldn’t pass up!

Lovely & updated cottage in a beautiful setting

We had a wonderful visit at Fox Haven Cottage with our family (parents + 4 children, ages 4-11). The house is cozy and comfortable, with updated kitchen that was lovely and a beautiful open dining room / kitchen, surrounded by windows. All of the beds were quite comfortable and updated, clean bathrooms were lovely across the board. The home owners thought of so much for their guests - as the house was well stocked with plenty of kitchen items, games, puzzles, etc. Super convenient to Idlewild and Linn Run State Park. The stream in the back is gorgeous and peaceful. We enjoyed walking the grounds and relaxing in the woods! Hope to return someday. Thank you! (P.S. The Pie Shoppe is a few minutes down the road and had some of the best donuts and baked goods we’ve ever had).

Idyllic spot to connect with nature

This is a belated review. We stayed in June 2020 and it was so restorative to spend a few days in Justin and Noelle's property. As great as the pictures of the house are, staying there was even better. With the large walls of windows in the kitchen and dining room, you truly feel like you are in nature The house is on a very unique spot that is sheltered from neighbors and has a fabulous view of the forest and river. You can hear the babbling of the river and birds singing all around which provided such a peaceful respite to the pandemic. The renovation of the house is very lovely, thoughtful and so functional. The house feels like a home away from home. Thank you so much for hosting us!

Lovely mountain cottage with lots of Charm!

Fox Haven Cottage is the perfect place to vacation with children or adult couples. The photos and description on this site are only glimpses of the quality you'll find here. The cottage has been smartly designed and beautifully decorated to give each spacious room a cozy, comfortable feel. The wooded lot and creek the cottage sits on is gorgeous and has different outside seating areas to enjoy it all from. The large dining/kitchen area both with walls of windows provides lots of light and views of the woods, creek, and mountain too. We took a very scenic drive to Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, which was very impressive. We also enjoyed hiking in Linn Run State Park. All and all, we enjoyed this cottage and the Laural Highlands area very much. Our thanks to Justin and Noelle for sharing this cottage and for the explicit check in and check out instructions.

Wonderful house in a beautiful setting! They really did think of everything, including extra blankets in case it got chilly. We were in town for a girls weekend and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked with plates and pots pans for easy breakfast prep. We enjoyed discovering Ligonier and stopped at the Compass Inn Museum for an excellent tour. Would definitely start again.

This was our second stay at the Fox Haven Cottage. We love it so much that it has become an annual family weekend, and we have already booked for 2026. The cottage is in the perfect location, nestled among the trees offering privacy and tranquility. The interior offers plenty of space for relaxing, cooking, dining and sleeping, but we enjoy most of our time outdoors sitting around the firepit listening to the babbling stream that passes through the property. It lives up to its name and is truly a haven where you can disconnect from the city and reconnect with nature.

Justin and Noelle Weaver are the architect and designer team of BLC Property LLC. They currently own this vacation rental property and use it as a retreat.

Why they chose this property

Ligonier is special to the couple as Justin's great-great-grandfather built a cottage near the Loyalhanna that brought generations to the Laurel Highlands. As Pittsburgh's outdoor playground the natural surroundings of the region including small towns, bakeries, museums, parks and markets make going to Ligonier a retreat that takes you back to a simpler time.

What makes this property unique

"There is something magical about the Laurel Highlands area. You feel God's presence as you look around and see such amazing natural beauty. I fell in love the day Justin took me to Ligonier, and now it is in my blood. Getting a property that is so special is a blessing I never could have imagined. It is a place that Justin and I want to bless others, where they can come to be refreshed." - Noelle Weaver
