Great house for our weekend

The house was great for our family while we were in town for our daughters wedding. A few hiccups during check in but Connella was really fast at getting us the correct info!

Nice place

Thankful we had a nice quiet place to stay with friends. We couldn't find the outside trashcan as stated in directions, so we had to drive to main refuse area several times. Also towels/wash rags were sparse. For the most part, it was what we expected. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Big Canoe

Day 1-3 was good; on day 4 Discovered 2 Cockroaches in two days. Was not happy. Response time for request baby gate took too long and didn’t fit at the top of the steps. The area was beautiful and the house and deck were nice.

Great, poor communication

The stay was great except we weren’t on the list for check in when we arrived we had to contact the property manager to be added and let in the gate. Also the property being listed for sale so ppl knocking on the door to see the property and later the real estate agent entering the property without knocking to do a scheduled showing…. The agent was nice and he did explain himself, the owner contacted me and issued $25 Apple Pay but the interruptions were definitely worth an extra nights stay or half day refund. Anyway other than that the location was amazing.

We apologize that communication fell short. The owner let us know, they had a scheduled appointment for an inspector to inspect the home. Unfortunately, they were not able to reschedule the date. Peaceful Serenity

We loved our vacation at this home. We spent a total of 7 days. My son and his wife stayed down stairs with the pool table, my mom (who is limited in her mobility) stayed on the main floor with all the action, and my daughter and I stayed upstairs; there was more than enough room for everyone. We saw a momma bear and her three cubs on our second evening as we sat on the main deck. We hiked (we are from Louisiana so it felt like a hike to us) to the pool area. We rented a boat for a couple of hours at the marina; I would not recommend more time due to the small size of lake. We spent our time swimming on the lake and watching for eagles at Eagle Island. Everyone we met was extremely sweet and helpful. Jasper is a short distance away so we shopped there and eat lunch at a fabulous restaurant, "61 Main." We even traveled to Ocoee rive for whitewater about 2 hours away with a group called Raft 1; fantastic adventure!. Really great memories were made so thank you!

Nice house, needs updated furniture and furnishings

We love Big Canoe. The owner was a super nice guy, very agreeable and easy to work with. He had recently upgraded his WiFi and was available on my first call when I couldn’t find the password. We enjoyed our stay and there was plenty of room for our group to gather or spread out. I am not a complainer but I felt someone should post a candid review, I would have appreciated knowing before I made my choice. The only thing that would prevent us from renting this particular home again was that almost all of the furniture looks and feels to be a few years beyond needing to be replaced. The kitchen was equipped but most of the dishes were chipped and all of the frying pans were so scratched up we couldn’t even use them to make breakfast. Those were embarrassing features with the guests we invited to stay with us. Easy fixes, I hope the owner would update those things and if so we would gladly return.

Many additional kitchen items have been recently added, including pots/pans, dishes and glasses. We have removed any kitchen items that needed replacement. New dining room, family room, and terrace level furniture is being delivered in early May. Also, in addition to the recently installed 55" smart TV, two additional smart TVs will be installed in early May also.

Not the value we expected

While we thought the house was nice online it definitely feels as though it’s been visited and not well maintained. There was broken furniture, patches on the ceiling you can see should have been painted and upon arriving the dishwasher wasn’t even unloaded, dirty blinds, bugs inside and on the screened porch massive cobwebs and spiders in addition the hot tub was dirty. We also felt like more towels should have been given, and we weren’t thrilled with being literally right on top of other people. The continuous confusion before arriving with different emails giving different instructions. Either saying we didn’t do something or saying conflicting checkin and out instructions. The house is ok but not what we expected and would not return. Either way not what we felt the value was for what we paid.

We had a great stay at Great Escapes. The TVs being Roku was a little challenging - no normal TV channels. Also I think the house needs an exterminator- I saw 3 roaches.

Lovely house in Big Canoe

This owner is very easy to work with. We had some problems with wifi but the owner worked hard to resolve the problem and by the time we left the wifi was working very well. The house is spacious and clean and in a quiet neighborhood. We loved having a variety of spaces to relax in. It is very convenient to the beach club. Big Canoe is amazing with multiple hiking trails, pools, boating options. It was a wonderful choice for our family reunion and we will definitely be back.

Really Nice Place

The house was great for what we needed. I would recommend this place to anyone needing a place in North GA for a getaway. The pictures of the smallest room do not really show what that room is like. It is only room for the twin bed and nothing else. it also has very low ceilings. For the most part, the house was clean but we did find a number of dead bugs in places. The hot tub is good and hot, but the headrest are missing and I could not get all the jets to work at the same time. When I contacted the local property manager by email as directed to provide the names of the drivers, I also ask about a later check-out time. I never got a response. She did not even acknowledge she got the email. After waiting a few days I contacted Evolve through the VRBO platform and it took them over 2 days to respond telling me that that was up to the local property manager to respond to. it was like they did not read my entire message. The owners of the cabin obviously care about their property, but I am not sure the management cares about the customers experience.

Girls Getaway!

We had a wonderful time staying in this house! Beds were comforable, great views, cute neighborhood! The only issue is having to take the trash all the way to the north gate and not being able to leave there but other than that awesome stay for our girls getaway and wine tours that weekend!

Beautiful Mountain House

This home perfectly accommodated our family during our recent stay in North Georgia. It was spacious, tastefully decorated, and had a pretty view of the mountains. We enjoyed using both the indoor and outdoor living spaces. The pool table, screened in porch dining area, and hot tub were all nice amenities to have at the property. The kitchen was pretty well stocked with cookware, dishes, and utensils which enabled us to easily prepare meals. We also enjoyed hiking on the Big Canoe trails to see the Upper and Lower Falls. Would definitely recommend this property for a nice relaxing getaway!

Girls Weekend!

1st the house is just as pictured so you are in for a treat with staying at a beautiful house. Plenty of run for all the guest to stay in. Rooms are really great and size. You will love the stay at this home. 2nd be aware that it is only two parking spaces available at the house. Therefore, parking will be hard for large families. I was able to get guest to park at another location and scoop them up. 3rd the owner is very responsive and a pleasure to speak to when we had some problems.

I had an amazing relaxing, but fun time at the Big Canoe. The house was beautiful. Not only the views on the porch but every little wall decor made me feel at home. My favorite was the picture of the bear in the tub in the bathroom. :) Although there were only 2 of us, I can’t wait to come back with more family and have others enjoy it as much as I did. Everything was so well kept & clean. Bed was super comfortable, netflix was easy to get to, great internet connection, and the most fuzziest, soft blankie I’ve ever felt. I can’t wait to come back & this time enjoy some golf & other amenities we missed due to rain one day. Although the rain made for a lovely relaxing day & great view watching it from the living room. Thanks so much for a great stay! We’ll be back for sure! :)

Great place poor communication

The place was wonderful! The beds were comfortable, the hot tub was nice, and we loved the pool table. No complaints about the place at all. Now for the not so great - one of the main reasons we decided to go to Big Canoe and to stay at this home was to enjoy the community pool, the lake, the private "beach", the famous rock slide, etc. Additionally, in advance of our trip, I reached out to Tonja (property manager I assume) to ask a few questions about the place. She was responsive. I also asked about the pool and how much the costs would be to use it. She replied that she called and checked and that it was free. Upon arrival we were told that the lake, beach, and rock slide were closed and wouldn't be opening during our stay. We were also told that it was $6 per person per day to use the pool. This was an extreme dissapointment as we had to pay $162 for our party to go swimming, we couldn't use any of the other amenities that we had planned to, and when we asked for a 20% refund as we were getting a product that was different than what we had originally booked, the owner said they could only offer us a 10% refund. Ultimately, we had a good time and the house was nice, but we were very dissapointed and our poor kids, who had been talking about the lake, beach, and rock slide for weeks, were devastated. After waiting for 1.5 years to take a vacation (due to COVID), this was not the trip we had hoped for.
