This house is in a quiet peaceful area. Close to several attractions. The host was easy to communicate with. Very clean with extra care to provide what we needed to feel right at home. We highly recommend staying at this location.

This was a great centrally located home that was close enough to Cortez and easy access to Mesa Verde, Telluride and Canyon of the Ancients. Very peaceful setting and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and not only meeting Ken and Lou Anne, but Millie, Jazz and Flash!

Quiet, but convenient location with easy access to everything!

We stayed for 2 nights in August and had the most wonderful time. This home has it ALL - a fully stocked kitchen, A/C, comfy beds, and hangout spaces inside - but it's the outside spaces that really steal the show. From a covered porch to outside dining and even a few cozy chairs by the entrance, we rotated from place to place to enjoy it all. The yard boasts so many beautiful flowers and is well-maintained. It feels like such a home away from home! And the hot tub is a MUST! Clean with powerful jets - the soak at the end of the day with the pretty twinkle lights around us was the perfect cherry on top!

The Carlson house is simply awesome. Clean, quite, comfortable, beautiful home and grounds. Our son and girlfriend enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit. Having well equipped kitchen was also a bonus!! We will definitely stay again when we come to visit family in the area.

This is a beautiful property, very well equipped and furnished. Space is generous, including several outdoor spaces, covered or open. The hosts are super nice and responsive. The place is perfect to access all the rich cultural and natural wonders of the Southeast corner of Colorado. Shopping and dining in Cortez is 10-15 min away. We are a family of four (teenage daughters) and spent a few days there. We would definitely come back if we come to the area again.

I love this house. It's spacious, comfortable, beautiful, has many amenities provided (I needed a straw, and found one in a drawer!), and made me feel at home. The outside is spectacular with outdoor seating, a grill, gorgeous views, and a large hot tub. There's even a little creek running through with ducks and deer all over. I was out at night and could hear all sorts of fun & splashing just a few meters away from me. It made me feel secure and happy. The location is about 10 minutes outside of Cortez and perfect. My main goals for my trip were to relax and view the night sky. I miss seeing all the stars and Milky Way, and while I can go places in Utah to view them, there's something extra peaceful about the Mesa Verde area that draws me back to Cortez. Thank you, Carlsons, for sharing your property and making it so welcoming.

Piece of Heaven in farm country

A stunning place to stay on a beautiful piece of property in an open farming area. From the upper deck you can see for miles and see mountains all around - great for sunsets and star gazing. Home is impeccable with everything you need. Owners are on site but definitely not in your space but always available for questions or information on the area. Close to museums and Mesa Verde and Durango and Telluride. Absolutely 5 star all the way!

Peace and Tranquility

The Carlson House is a fabulous place to stay! We loved our three nights there and we should have stayed longer! Lou Anne was wonderfully welcoming and very communicative. We enjoyed the hot tub immensely and took full advantage! Mesa Verde has been on my Bucket List for some time, so if you are going to Mesa Verde you must stay at the Carlson House! We loved the welcoming deer on our first night, and the resident cat "Flash" is so loving! We nicknamed him Morris! Everything is magical here!! One of the BEST rental experiences that we have encountered!! If I could give it more than a 5 I would! Thank you Lou Anne!!

Beautiful home

This house is amazing. Didn’t spend a lot of time at the house as we were out everyday seeing the area. After riding our motorcycles all day, this was such a nice place to come back to and relax. The last day we stayed at the house and enjoyed using the BBQ grill. The house was so clean and Ken and Lou Anne are the best! This is the perfect house for 2 couples. The plush bathrobes for each guest was an added bonus! Will recommend this house to all my friends and family for sure!!!

Wonderful Stay

The pictures don't do it justice. The location and view and serenity of the property are amazing! The space was really clean and everything seemed new. The kitchen was well stocked. We came to Cortez to mountain bike at Phil's World (and Boggy Draw), which was great and in close proximity. We enjoyed the Saturday farmer's market in Cortez, and an outdoor concert in nearby Dolores. The hosts were wonderful, welcoming, and accommodated all of our needs. Great stay!!

Awesome place to stay

Carlson’s went out of their way to make our stay fabulous. They had fresh made brownies, fresh cut flowers and a personal message on the counter as well as all the supplies needed to be comfortable. Mr Carlson stopped by right away to welcome us and give us instructions on the swamp cooler and hot tub. The property was beautiful and very clean. It was near town but out far enough out to be quiet and able to enjoy some of the area wildlife. We would definitely recommend this home.

Amazing place in Cortez!

Stayed at the Carlson House while visiting the area for mountain bike race. Everything was just as advertised :) Clean, comfortable, and relaxing. The place had everything we needed - including a very nice hot tub and hot tub robes! Lou Ann and Ken are great hosts! We'll be back!
