About this property

The Oliver House at Canyons of the Ancients National Monument

The Oliver House is located within the historic Goodman Point area and sits on the family farm with expansive views in all directions. The home, built in 1965, is in its original state and is well kept, clean, and provides an authentic rural SW Colorado experience. This 1600 sq. ft. home has three bedrooms, one bath, a spacious living area, fire place, full kitchen, dining room, and full service laundry room. Enjoy the solitude as you watch the sun rise over the beautiful LaPlata Mountains, and the sun set over Utah’s Blue Mountains. The Sleeping Ute Mountain is close by to the south and the Lone Cone in the distance to the north. Depending on the season, bare witness to tractors working ground in the fields and livestock grazing in the pastures

Located on a sparsely populated paved country road, the house is 1 mile from the Canyon of the Ancients National Monument Sand Canyon Trail Head. Enjoy riding your ATV or mountain bike on the dirt roads and trails within the Monument or take a hike on the Sand Canyon Trail in search of Puebloan ruins. The house is located two hours from Moab, Utah and Telluride, CO, one hour from Mesa Verde National Park, and less then an hour from the San Juan National Forest. Within a 30 minute drive there are boating and fishing opportunities on Narraguinnep and McPhee reservoirs, and world class single track mountain biking at Phil’s World and Boggy Draw trail systems.

The possibilities are endless, but the main attraction might just be the quiet solitude of real country living. We look forward to having you visit. Just drive carefully and watch for the local deer population on your way to the Oliver House.

About the host

Host profile image
We are farmers and ranchers who have lived in this area our whole lives. My husbands parents built this home in 1965. After they both passed away it was left to us. This home has been full of family and love for many years and we want to honor their memory with it.

We opened the Oliver House in the fall of 2020 but we had to close it in the spring of 2022 because our daughter and her husband needed a place to live after they sold their home and were looking for another to purchase. They have since moved out so we did a deep and thorough cleaning and have opened this house back up to visitors.

I am very excited about the new people I will meet. The year we were open I met so many wonderful people and God blessed me tremendously through them. I hope and pray our humble little country home will bless all those who chose to stay.

Why they chose this property

This is truly a home away from home. Cozy and comfortable. Enjoy the feel of the family farm house.
