With 4 luxurious bedrooms, all offering water views, the cottage invites you to unwind on the expansive deck while soaking in the ever-changing waterfront scenery.

Toast marshmallows at the fire pit under starry skies and reflect on your adventures, beaches, MTB trails, skydiving, wineries, historic sites, lavender farms, Seahorse and Platypus World, Beaconsfield Mine and more.
The fairy penguins at Low Head are a must see.

We absolutely loved our stay at this very warm, inviting & well-equipped house. The kitchen had everything you needed, great coffee machine, wine glasses, every utensil needed. Appliances all easy to use. We used the deck all the time & fireplace each night. It was so lovely to sit & look at the stunning view & watch the stars at night. We slept with the window open to wake up to the beautiful river views. Your garden is so pretty. We ate at the pub across the road each night, which has a huge menu. We also used the bikes each day & rode along the river to the lighthouse & had swims in what I can describe as very refreshing crystal clear water. We didn't want to leave & will be back to stay at your amazing house.

We visited the area for a family wedding and had the most beautiful stay in Georgetown. The house is in the perfect location to shops and we enjoyed the bikes on offer to explore the area. What a gorgeous cottage right on the river. Plenty of room for our group of 6 adults. Very comfortable with lots of thoughtful touches. Janmaree is very helpful with great tips on where to go and where to eat. We would definitely come back to York Cottage.

After 27 years of hairdressing and working to the clock, I set off on an adventure, which lead to 10 years of living in the tropics where I helped renovate and manage holiday villas.
Covid, changed all that and I returned home to beloved Tasmania.
I had owned the cottage for many years, just waiting for the right moment and inspiration to "do something with it"
I just love creating gorgeous and comfortable spaces, filling them with energy and making a haven for people to comfortably relax.
I understand the need for people "get away, unwind & switch off.
Over the years I have checked in stressed individuals, always such a rush to pack and get organised to go on holidays, at the end of their visit, I have checked out the most relaxed people who look like the weight of the world has been lifted.

Why they chose this property

Built in 1870 as a workman cottage for the Telegraph Cable that joined Tasmania to Mainland Australia.
The original cottage was 2 bedrooms, with 3 fire places.
The chimney that stands in the kitchen was once on the outside of the house. LOOK at the wooden door step as you walk from the kitchen to the living room, it is worn from 150 years of foot steps.
The cottage offers spacious bedrooms, with water views from each room.
Cosy nights by the fire, and all the joy that waterfront living offers... Walks, bike track, pelicans, fishing, fresh lifestyle, beautiful sunsets across the bay and sunrises over Mt George .
Every moment of the day is a changing landscape. Boats, Birds, fishermen, people walking and pickniching... Make sure you have a photo with the giant waterfront statues, Sammy the Seal and George the Pelican.
Sunrises over York Cove and sets over the Tamar River, the best of both worlds.
