⸻Truly a peaceful nature retreat
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A Hidden Gem of Peace and Natural Beauty
I recently stayed at Ravens Valley Nature Retreat, and I can honestly say it’s one of the most serene, rejuvenating experiences I’ve Need a place in the country to rejuvenate? Work from here in the winter. We are 12 mins from St. Albert and Edmonton Pet friendly Enjoy a great fire pit and stargazing. Private on 5 acres surrounded with spruce trees. Small walking trails.Gazebo with barbecue and fire table. Across from the Sturgeon River nestled in a valley where you can find wildlife, peace, relax and rejuvenate! The cabins were spotless, beautifully designed, and perfectly blended into the environment. The large windows brought the outside in, making it feel like I was waking up in the middle of a nature documentary. Comfortable bedding, thoughtful amenities, and eco-conscious touches made it feel both luxurious and grounded.
What truly set Ravens Valley apart was the atmosphere. From the gentle sound of the creek running nearby to the firepit under the stars, everything about the place invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect—with yourself, with others, or simply with nature.

Our host Carman was so kind and helpful. The cabin is cute and comfy and the property was beautifully maintained. We had a very relaxing time and will definitely book again.
This was a Mother / Daughter getaway and was perfect. Great tiny house, perfect tranquility, peace and rest...just what was needed.
The lights at night was magical around an amazing fireplace.
Will definitely be coming back.
It was a great stay Carmen was quick to help when we had wifi issues and took the feedback to make the cabin better. There was a fire ban and she set up the fire table for us when we arrived which was beyond great!
Will be back again it was such a lovely getaway and only 10 minutes from the city.
Days spent playing games like Yardzee, Bocci ball and board games(all available at the cabin). There were no downtime between chooping wood, archery or relaxing reading a good book. At night we gathered around a nice campfire, chasing constellation and listenning to the howling coyotes. In the day time the soaring hawks and chippering squirrels came to celebrate with us. Carmen has been a great host always available if needed. We will come back for sure.

Tiny cabin
First time to celebrate my bday with family in the cabin. Host Carmen is very accomodating in all circumstances, lots of entertaning games offered. however the cabin and its area was not that really impressive. Driveway was muddy, Outhouses is far from the cabin and too dark around to get there. the safety of your belongings inside cabin is not guarantee, the safety of the area for the kids makes you worry from time to time because there is no fence to the bushes down to the creek, dog poop from previous guest welcomes us on our first day, limited usage of electricity and water, dishwashing station is not clean you can see the flow of the water down to your feet. Stayed April 2024, this cabin is only ideal for adult that does a camping regularly.

Anchie booked the cabin for 2 adults.
The day she arrived, she texted she had three kids with her. She did not mention this in her booking. We have a policy of no kids under 10. They were all under 8.
We could have refused her with full pay but we did not.
This gave me worry as she was not honest when booking.
The retreat is cleaned every time guests leave. The grounds are very nice except nothing is quite green yet.
We do not leave dog poop for guests when they arrive.
There is plenty of power. To run a vacuum, microwave, fireplace, light etc.
we only asked not to have the fireplace and microwave running at the same time.
The water is supplied in 5 gallon water jugs with a hand pump. 2 tubs are supplied for washing dishes inside the cabin. Different than summer months.
The outdoor sink is not open until May same time as the outdoor shower is installed.
The cabin has almost everything you need and paper plates also supplied.
She asked me to book her an Uber but when I checked it was expensive. So our retired pastor picked her and the kids up and charged only 10.00
Anchie left dog poop all over when they left.
I asked her why when I tried everything to accommodate her. She told me to get over the poop? They did not clean the cabin and some of the kids clothes were left.
When you stay here it is much less work than going camping where you need to pack many items. The outhouse is about 80ft from the cabin. There are lanterns to use. Little kids of course would be afraid to go at night by themselves. We have many guests that enjoy their stays here. We will not be accepting instant bookings anymore because of this.
We are a nature retreat for people to enjoy wildlife and being outdoors.

Very rustic...
I didn't fully comprehend from the listing that the shower was outside and that we had to walk about 100 feet to an outdoor toilet/outhouse. Not pleasant during rain and in the dead of night. The electrical supply allows either toaster or kettle plugged in or it will blow circuit. You must bring own drinking water. Driveway is treacherous when muddy. If you want a quiet retreat with some wildlife and very off-grid lifestyle then this is for you. It was not a good match for us. We wanted a landing place while visiting relatives and the outdoor shower/toilet situation was so bad and kind of ruined our stay.

So surprised,
Hi yes it helps when a guest reads the full listing before booking.
We are a nature retreat. This was made to offer guests an outdoor experience with wild life.
In the listing description it does say no plumbing in the cabin. There is plenty of water outside.
Pictures also show that. We provide peanuts and seed for the birds. None of it was used.
There’s plenty of power as it is full service but not a good idea to plug microwave and fireplace together. I think you were able to use your Cpap machine. It’s rustic but not that rustic. We can not control the weather either and it did rain a lot.
In the description it does say outhouse too.
It’s too bad you did not read fully as we really try to Make good nature experiences.
Sounds like you would have been better at a hotel. I’m Sorry you had a bad experience but I don’t think your review was fair at all as it was all listed as it is. My son and I have worked very hard to create a private spot to enjoy.
2 star review was unreasonably and confusing
Take care,
Carmen
The host was wonderful. There was a vase of flowers greeting us upon arrival and Carmen went to the farmers market and picked up a big bag of peas for us. Sue to medical surprise medical appointments she allowed us to shorten our stay and reimbursed us. She set up a kiddy pool for the dog to cool off. Carmen made this a very memorable experience.
Everything about this cabin was wonderful. From the coyotes calling at night to the moose in the early morning. Loved the peacefulness! And of course nothing can compare to the outdoor shower! We will be back to enjoy this place longer!
Loved this place! Adorable little cabin and peaceful surroundings. We even had a deer watching us shower in the morning! My daughter thought that was the coolest thing ever
My fiance and I really enjoyed our stay with the dogs. They had a blast! We will definitely stay here again when we come back to alberta. Thank you Carmen.
