Samphire Collection is a unique offering thoughtfully curated accommodations in Albany. The Allotment Cottage is a lovingly restored worker's cottage in central Albany, minutes away from the cafes, restaurants and bars of central Albany. The cottage combines elegance and luxury with a relaxed bohemian feel. Morning sunshine streams through the open kitchen, living and dining space which opens on to an enclosed garden and courtyard. In the colder months, there's a fireplace and a deep bath for winter comfort. All bedrooms are spacious, with quality linens and the kitchen well appointed for self catering. 2 queen bedrooms and a bunk room are downstairs with a shared bathroom. Upstairs is a private retreat with queen bed, walk-in-robe and ensuite bathroom. A front verandah faces to the street and is a great place to soak up the afternoon sunshine. The enclosed back courtyard extends from the living/dining area and looks over the chicken coop where our happy girls forage during the day. The house block is surrounded by vegetable gardens, fruit trees and lawn and kids will love our "city farm". They're welcome to join us to collect the eggs if you see us about.

The property is just gorgeous! It was so lovely that we didn’t care at all that it poured for the first few days of our stay, the kids played with the trainer and fed the chickens and we played cards by the gorgeous fireplace. We can’t thank the hosts enough, it was beautiful!

This property exceeded all our expectations. In addition to it being in an ideal location, the host was exceptionally helpful and generous by providing delicious homemade and local treats from the region. We really felt right at home.
We had an awesome stay at this property. The location was fantastic, so wr could walk everywhere & the bedrooms were a good size.
I would definitely stay here again next time I am in Albany.

Richard and his family were great guests. Communication was good throughout and he was respectful of house rules. The house was left near and tidy and we would love to welcome him again.
What a gem in Albany! What a fantastic house - the photos honestly don’t do it justice! Beautifully presented, spacious, and full of character. The gas fire was perfect for those cool Albany nights, and the location couldn’t be better - just a short stroll to great coffee spots, restaurants, and local attractions. The Saturday Farmers Market is literally at the end of the street. We loved every minute of our stay and can’t wait to come back!

Cottage with wonderful modern and roomy modern addition on the backside. Beautiful courtyard … generous supply of tasty breakfast items. Walking distance to boutique shops and restaurants. Must try Mujaba Bistro for lunch or dinner. We loved this place … even comes with a few chickens.

Strategically located in the town centre. Better than hotel with all the amenities! The property will certainly entertain the young and the old. The chooks and the vegie patch are always a hit daily!

My hubby and I loved the area and the park was just around the corner so was handy taking our boy for his morning and evening walks even though he came with us everywhere.
Also walking distance to the cafes and pubs so it was easy to move around the town
The cottage is stunning and very spacious including the bedrooms and bathrooms.
Everything you need is in the kitchen and laundry and Louise even spoilt us with a bottle of Wine and treats when we arrived.
Aside from sitting on the front verandah there is also a lovely back yard area where we sat under the fairy lights watching the chooks with a bottle of wine 🍷 as you do 😁
Would totally recommend this place and will definitely stay again.

The home was near the town centre so walking distance to everything.Host was fabulously engaged when we needed. They gave us a bounty of goodies to enjoy during our two day stay. Our dog had a yard to enjoy, plenty of walking nearby as well as a park, loved being with his people inside. The house is gorgeous. Very comfortable, heater in lounge perfect to keep the living spaces warm.We even got to see Lighting the Sound preparations unfold from the upstairs area from the windows.A worthy stay. We will be back

A property where you can simply move in with your toothbrush. The house was tastefully furnished complete with all the creature comforts and necessities. I would highly recommend this property for all families big and small. Despite only myself, my partner and our little one (mini schnauzer) that stayed for 3 nights, the property goes beyond simply being a place of residence. We enjoyed ourselves in the XL bathtub, had our scrambled eggs from the chookpen behind the house, barbequed local fish in the al-fresco area with citrus from the garden. Even our little one found his favourite spot by the fireplace. To end it, a good night's rest in this well insulated house keeps us nice and fresh for a whole day of exploring Albany.
Everything about our stay was awesome. From the booking, check in, facilities, small touches etc.
We highly recommend this property as a wonderful way to enjoy Albany.

Lou and James
The group of us (4 adults and 3 kids) thoroughly enjoyed ourselves staying at Louise and James' house. Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome with bread, wine, milk, fruit, chocolate, and eggs ready for our consumption, and a tour of the house and backyard. The house was very clean and had lots of interesting antiques and books. Our city kids loved spending time with the chickens. James also provided us with a very comprehensive list of places to visit, including attractions, cafes, and restaurants. We look forward to staying at Louise and James' house again, the next time we visit Albany.

About the host
Hosted by Louise Everett
Lou and James live in Albany, Western Australia and love travel, good food and anything that combines the two. Between us, we have 5 lovely children, a dog, chickens and a vegetable garden where we like to spend our spare time in (when we have it!).
We share a love of the South Coast and after moving to Albany more than 20 years ago. Hosting is an opportunity for us to share our love of Albany and contribute to the local community by creating meaningful experiences for our guests with a commitment to quality, creativity, sustainability, accessibility and social responsibility.
Why they chose this property
Albany is a place of great physical beauty and a long cultural history. Neither Lou nor James really intended to stay in Albany long-term but the connection to place was strong and a passion and commitment to the community, its producers and creatives came easily.
After 20 years, we still marvel at how fortunate we are to call this place home.
What makes this property unique
The house has been a family home for the past 20 years but is now exclusively for our guests. It has been a place of joy, gardening, cooking and living and we hope you love it as much as we do.
The house is as close to town as it is possible to be but is surrounded by lawns, orchards and our potager garden. You'll experience the convenience of a central location and the tranquility of our beautiful spaces.
