A Cozy, New, Tucked Away Cottage

Riverside Retreat is a newly constructed open concept cottage built in 2016 located just steps away from the Fortune River. A perfect place to unwind and relax in a quiet, tucked corner at the end of a classic PEI red dirt road. Local dining, beaches, golf and shopping are just minutes away. Everything you need for a relaxing getaway can be found in our cottage.

The heat pump and electric fireplace will quickly warm you up, and the air conditioning quickly circulates to escape hot summer days. Wood for the oversized firepit is provided on site. Sitting on almost an acre of land, you can enjoy the sun on the front deck or in the spacious yard. Just steps away, you can enjoy the clear, calm water of Fortune river. "Paddles on Fortune River" is just moments away if you want to rent kayaks or paddle boards.

Enjoy your evenings by the fire or seek shelter in the screened in portion of the deck. The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Any kitchen or household supplies you need will be found in the cottage. Wifi is available along with a smart tv.

Small pets are welcome, but please keep them off of the furniture and clean up any outside messes asap. This helps keep our place clean for the next guests. Drive right up to park next to the cottage off the red dirt road. Access to the private boat slip is included with the rental of the cottage.

Riverside Retreat cottage is 8 minutes from the picturesque fishing village of Souris, where you will find shopping, dining, groceries, fuel, and the car ferry to the Magdalen Islands. Also 20 minutes to the East, you will find the beautiful "singing sands" at Basin Head beach. The tuna fishing capital of the world is located 25 minutes East at North Lake Harbour where you can book deep sea fishing excursions. Fine dining is 3 minutes down the road at Chef Michael Smith's famous "Inn At Bay Fortune". Also close by is the newly opened restaurant "Strait Goods", great for breakfast if you don't feel like cooking. There are two championship golf courses just 25 minutes away at Brudenell and the world famous Links At Crowbush Cove. If a smaller course is more your speed, the nine hole course Rollo Bay Greens is just 5 minutes away.

Fabulous cottage in the Souris area. Full kitchen with all the accompaniments, very comfortable bed and good size bathroom with walk in shower. We had a terrific stay at this property. Super clean and had all the amenities needed for a relaxing time. While we spent most days touring the island, it was a comfortable, cozy space to come back too. Great location and access to the river and dock is a bonus during summer weather!

Beautiful, nicely decorated little cottage

We loved having this lovely little cottage as a home base for touring around east PEI. The cottage is very modern and comfortable and is perfectly sized for a couple. The location is great - lots to see and do. The property managers were extremely friendly and helpful, and made a great stay even better.

Perfect cottage retreat

This cottage was equipped with everything you need. We spent our days exploring the island and greatly enjoyed coming back to the screened in porch, the kitchen to cook and the fire to relax. Loved everything about this spot.

Loved this little gem surrounded by nature. Perfect for my two-day stay, and wished it could have been longer. The screened in porch was a lovely place to lounge and listen to the birds and rustling of the trees. The nearby dock was a bonus for relaxing with my morning coffee. Quiet and Perfect

We spent nearly a week in this lovely wee cottage nestled into the trees at the end of a short dirt road. It was close enough to Souris to be convenient and far enough away from everything else to be peaceful and delightful. We also had two dogs and our hosts were amazingly welcoming of us and them. We loved staying here and would highly recommend it.

beautiful little place

Charming little chalet in a really quiet area on a large, very intimate plot of land. There were 4 of us, so it was a bit tight for the beds, but that was expected with the description of the chalet. Very clean place, with all amenities (except washer-dryer which would be very useful during a long stay and rope to hang our swimsuits outside) and very well located. The veranda is truly superb. There aren't many mosquitoes, so this outdoor fire ring was very pleasant. We absolutely loved our stay.

We enjoyed the tranquility and the inside of the cottage was very clean. We discovered a small beach a few kilometres away and we walked in the sand. This could have been mentioned for those who enjoy the beach. Other than that everything was relaxing .

The perfect retreat!

We booked Riverside Retreat for a little honeymoon getaway and it was simply the perfect spot! This little cottage is cute and cozy and is in pristine condition. The spacious and private yard offered everything we needed for the rest and relaxation we were looking for! We will certainly be back!!

A Great Getaway

A sweet, very clean cottage with all the amenities needed. Very thoughtfully looked after. The fire pit and screened in porch were great additions but the best was use of the dock for great river swimming. We lucked out with two beautiful days of weather as well!

I grew up in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia where I now live with my husband Jon. He grew up just 10 minutes from our cottage in Souris. We are both so excited to have found a slice of heaven on "his island" ! Living out of province, we don't have as much opportunity to enjoy it so we love that we can allow others to do so. We are so happy to have the previous owners living right next door, who built the cottage, help to manage the property.
