Great communication with the host, prompt and helpful! Excellent location with direct access to the water. The cottage had a nice fire pit and deck for outdoor activities. Had a wonderful time!
My wife and I loved our time away at your cottage! Clean and renovated inside and very spacious! Central air was perfect when we needed to relax inside in the evenings. Fishing was awesome. We will definitely be returning! Thanks again!
5 girls joined for a girls weekend. The cottage was great and the owners were easy to contact. The only thing to note is you cannot swim at the property. But they do provide options close. Thank you for a great weekend.
The water had lots of algae and moss growing around the deck. I noticed that their neighbors decks were maintained, and that Moss and the algae had been removed. If you’re planning on fishing, I would advise you take a boat rather than fish from the dock.
This lovely cottage was just the 4 day getaway my elderly parents and I needed! Cottage is very roomy, nicely laid out, has everything you need - you only have to bring your food and towels. Visited the nearby bustling towns of Warkworth and Campbellford. Checked out the nearby suspension bridge, bakery and cheese factory. Enjoyed a delicious meal at Capers Tap House in Campbellford - shout out to owner and Head Chef Dorset Miller! You can't swim at the cottage, but the boating and fishing is excellent. Kayaking on the river with the cottage's 2 kayaks, paddle boat and life jackets was fun. My dad caught a beautiful 22 inch northern pike off the dock with a worm and 7 pound test line! I caught catfish and panfish, mostly Bluegills. Watched the stars while toasting marshmallows around the firepit and enjoyed most of our meals on the wraparound deck. We'd visit again!
I am not the pickiest person, but given the price of this property I was expecting a bit more. Here are some of the issues:
When raining, Leak form the roof onto the fireplace
BBQ smells like rotten food, could not bring ourself to get close enough to open the lid
Swampy River water, good for water vehicles only (host's canoe leaks)
Mouldy smelling bathroom
Uncomfortable mattress (springy and you can feel the springs)
Unreliable outdoor plugs (EV with 110v charging capability will only get 6-9 amps)
Unreliable and subpar internet (can only stream videos at 320p which is 0.7Mbps, Internet stopped working 4 times throughout our stay that required modem and router reboot)
Good things about this place:
There bedrooms
Nice dining room
Very comfortable couch
Central AC is powerful enough to keep us cool
Well stocked cooking utensils
Spacious firepit with many seating
Be aware that MULTIPLE real estate owners share this property and communication with them is horrible. We ended up leaving a day early because we had to go the entire trip without wifi which also caused our first night to be in freezing conditions because the thermostat is linked to the network. Although the cottage was clean, every single dish in the kitchen had food fragments on them, or food marks. Nothing was “cleaned” in the kitchen. And after bringing up to the owner multiple times about the wifi and lack of care in the property, I received a phone call from one of the owners yelling at me over the phone saying the problems listed above were ridiculous to complain about. After asking the guy to stop yelling, he hung up on me mid conversation, and never messaged/called back. The towel rack in the bathroom was broken when we got there, it’s not fixed into the wall properly, and the guy said “that’s not my problem.” And after having no heat, he yelled at me saying I SHOULD have brought fire wood. Because I’m supposed to know that we’d have no heat out of incompetence of the owners?
This property seems like it hasn’t been touched in months at a time and the owners are so unaware of all the issues inside the property, and when you try telling them, they hang up on you, and don’t text you back until the next day. There was also a mold smell inside the furnace room. Stay away from this property, find somewhere where the owners are at least respectful and listen to concerns.
The cottage was very lovely and clean! We enjoyed our stay there, was nice and calm and was provided all the information we needed. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because you couldn't really swim in the water, which is something I'm always looking to do at a cottage and we didn't know that at the time of booking (was stated afterwards). Otherwise we had a really nice time, easy check in, great communication with the host and a beautiful spacious cottage!
This neighbourhood allows you to take advantage of nature. Enjoying the sunrise and sunset by the river and watching the fishes play in the water. Great for meditation because of its calmness and peacefulness. It’s just so serene.
