Gated. Private. Backed by Forest. Two Miles From the Best Town in the Mountains.
Some vacation rentals make you choose between seclusion and convenience. This one doesn't ask you to.
Behind the gates of Highlands Falls Country Club, on a secluded lot where the backyard gives way to a protected forest preserve, this four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath home occupies a particular kind of sweet spot — genuinely private, genuinely peaceful, and a two-mile drive from everything that makes Highlands one of the most beloved mountain towns in the Southeast. If you'd rather earn the arrival, a scenic 25-minute trail hike gets you there on foot.
Either way, the mountains win.
Built for Two Families, or One Very Lucky One - The layout of this home is one of its quiet superpowers. The main level functions as a complete, self-contained living space — beautifully appointed living area, fully equipped kitchen, spacious dining room built for shared meals, and a private ensuite bedroom that works perfectly as the primary suite. It's the kind of main level you could spend an entire trip on without feeling like anything is missing.
Then there's the lower level, which changes the math entirely for larger groups. A second full living room — ideal for movie nights, overflow lounging, or keeping the kids in their own orbit — anchors the space, alongside a kitchenette that gives guests downstairs the ability to operate independently when they want to. Additional bedrooms and bathrooms complete the level, creating a setup that two families can share without spending the whole trip negotiating over the kitchen or the remote.
The Porches Deliver - Western North Carolina does sunsets differently, and the covered main-level porch has a front-row seat to all of it. Upper and lower outdoor spaces mean there's always somewhere to be outside — morning coffee, afternoon reading, al fresco dinners, or simply sitting with a drink while the forest goes quiet around you. The lot backs directly to a forest preserve, which means the view from the porch is trees and ridgeline as far as you can see, with no neighbors interrupting the picture.
The Setting - Highlands Falls Country Club provides the kind of gated, manicured backdrop that makes arriving feel like an event. Beyond the gates, downtown Highlands is two miles away — acclaimed restaurants, boutique shopping, waterfalls, hiking, and the Old Edwards Inn and Spa all within easy reach. The trail into town is worth doing at least once, if only for the satisfaction of hiking somewhere with a good lunch waiting at the end.
Come for a long weekend. Start planning the return trip before you leave.

This beautiful mountain retreat was picturesque and relaxing. Breathtaking views, comfortable beds, plenty of bathrooms, laundry room, easy parking, with a variety of living spaces. We had more than everything we needed for our family of five to enjoy a spacious, luxurious experience. The location is tucked away in nature, in a private, secure community. Excellent communication, clear and concise, throughout the reservation process, the stay, and the checkout. The home is tastefully decorated with some details original to the home when built which add to the nostalgia, character, and beautiful story one can imagine while staying here. This is a place where memories are made. We loved it.

Thank you for your heartwarming review! We’re so honored that our home could be part of such a special family gathering. It’s wonderful to hear the location and our team made your experience perfect. We hope to host you and your family again in the future for more cherished moments together!
The house itself was great! We spent Christmas here with our family. We loved how spacious but cozy it felt. It is in a great location in a great neighborhood. However, the heat in the downstairs portion of the home did not work for the entirety of our trip and it was 39 degrees in the home. We were not able to use half of the home due to the freezing temperature down there and the pipes being frozen (2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, the office, the downstairs living room, or the kitchenette were completely unusable). We had to move mattresses upstairs and have half of our family members sleeping on the ground or on couches. The management team was friendly but did not communicate well when this occurred. We were also not well compensated for our misfortunes.

Hi Ellie. We are sorry that your trip was impacted by the extreme weather we had during your stay. We did communicate with you on several different platforms and did everything we could to get some heaters delivered to you on Christmas Eve. 50% of our homes were impacted by the weather and unfortunately heating systems in partially insulated basements just couldn't keep up with the demand. We purchased as many space heaters as we could find in a 100 mile radius. We also inquired with another management company to see if they had a home we could move you to but they were also completely booked. We do feel terrible that your Christmas was impacted by the weather and that's why we issued you a partial refund. It's not our policy to offer refunds for things that are out of our control, as out policy states, but we wanted to give you some compensation which we felt was fair.
