You'll find Shady Lane Beach Cottage at the end of a private lane at the mouth of the East River. Walk along the sand and look for treasures, or swim in the warm waters of the Northumberland Strait.. Prefer kayaking or canoeing? Launch your craft from the beach and explore the local waterways. Enjoy the sunsets next to your own beach bonfire, and relax.

With a fully equipped kitchen, you will be able to enjoy cooking delicious meals for your family to enjoy. Prefer to BBQ? We've got one for you! Eat al fresco at the large picnic table or inside in the sun porch.

Amazing location!

Cottage was spotless, roomy, comfy beds, well-equipped, with thoughtful touches. But the best part was the secluded beach, which we had all to ourselves. It was a great beach for walking, paddle boarding, and metal detecting (water shoes are an absolute must...lots of oyster shells.) Secluded, yet shopping and restaurants are close by. I would highly recommend it for couples or families. Very pleased. Hosts are wonderful.

We had a great stay at the cottage. We loved the long walks on the beach and beach combing. The water was shallow and warm. The location was very quiet and private- had the beach to ourselves the whole time. Easy run to Pictou, New Glasgow, Melmerby Beach and Caribou-Monroes Island. The cottage itself is lovely and well stocked. Air conditioning is great!

Beautiful

This house is absolutely beautiful. Super secluded. An excellent place to escape from everything. My dog and I enjoyed walking along the shore and barely seeing another soul the entire time we were here. The only drawback was the water didn't look very enticing. The shore had a lot of dead mollusks and rocks and we didn't have water shoes so we never ventured into the water. But the walks were lovely! And the house is absolutely gorgeous. It has everything you could possibly think of needing AND more!

Why they chose this property

The first time we drove onto the property we were hooked. We were looking for a secluded getaway from our hectic life in Halifax; somewhere we could walk out onto the beach and let our dogs run free. This property was exactly what we were looking for!

What makes this property unique

If you are looking for a quiet, private getaway, this is the perfect place. Our neighbours on the lane are lovely, and we all like our solitude. The beach is rarely used; on occasion, locals come to walk but the majority of the time the beach is all yours. You can launch your kayak or canoe from the property, enjoy a swim, have a fire in our custom outdoor fireplace, and enjoy the sunsets from the west-facing front yard.

The cottage has undergone an extensive renovation, exposing its shed ceiling and adding a bedroom. The living area is spacious and the kitchen is separated from the main living area and bedrooms, meaning early riser can make their coffee without disturbing the rest of the family!

It's a traditional family cottage; it has rustic charm with all the amenities you need for a restorative vacation. The real benefit is the privacy and the quiet. We often see deer, eagles, and hawks pass by. You can walk for ages along the shore and not see another soul.

Despite its seclusion, it is only a 10 minute drive from New Glasgow and a 20 minute drive to Pictou. If you bring a boat it's only a 5 minute ride or paddle to Hector Quai!
