About this property

Calming house on Hood Canal with canal and Mt. Rainier views

Welcome to Seal Rock Cottage! This beautiful low bank waterfront cabin in Brinnon is a great place to get away to and share happy times and good meals with your friends and family.

ABOUT SEAL ROCK COTTAGE

This newly constructed house sits across the street from Hood Canal, giving it great views and lower summertime temperatures. Enjoy the sunrises over the canal while you have a coffee, or sit out and watch the evening sun glint off of Mt. Rainier while having dinner on the 600+ square foot deck.

If you'd like to spend time by, or in, the water, this house has 60 feet of waterfront across the dead end street, and if you enter the campground at the end of the road, you can walk along the beach for over a mile. Because of the dead end road, this house's closest "neighbor" is a forested campground with hiking trails and wildlife to watch. Traffic may include bald eagles and deer, rather than cars and trucks. In addition, this house is one of the few houes in the area to be on the canal but not be directly on 101! Enjoy 300+ feet of wooded backyard to eliminate the sounds of the road while you enjoy the views and serenity of Hood Canal.

On specific days in the summer, shrimping is allowed in Hood Canal. Launch your rowboat from the property and head out to catch your own dinner (a license is required).

REVIEWS

Just a stone's throw from the water, and we could watch for harbor seals, sea lions, and orca! (With mixed results.) There were even eagles right above! We roasted marshmallows over the back yard firepit. Definitely recommend! - Phil

MORE ABOUT SEAL ROCK COTTAGE

In addition to the beautiful water view, the house has nearly an acre of land behind it. Nothing but grass and trees. There's a fire pit in the back as well as down by the water. The trees behind the house block any noises of civilization you may want to escape. In addition to the fire pit, there's a horsehoe court in the back, ready for that distinctive sound of the shoes hitting the stakes and laughter of people.

The property is pet friendly (maximum of two dogs under 40 pounds, with a per pet, per day fee), and set up for easy living. A wide open great room has ample comfortable seatings, a smart TV with 150+ channels, 100+ DVDs, and board games and puzzles. This house is perfect for spending time with your people and just relaxing.

Weekend in Hood Canal
I usually don’t write bad reviews but I feel I need to say something about this stay. I will start with the positives. Location is very nice with beautiful view of Hood Canal from the wrap around deck. Nice back yard too! The challenge came when I called when I booked to verify that no fragrances were used with the laundry. The property manager stated that they only used non-fragrance laundry detergent at all the properties. This was true but they use Snuggles dryer sheets and the bedding, towels and house had an overwhelming scent which made the stay challenging. I called and mentioned this but the only remedy was to have new sheets brought over but I feared they too where heavily scented. The mattress and pad had the scent in them. I ended up driving 45 miles to get a new set of sheets from the closest store. I would have brought sheets if I knew in advance. Other negatives: Bath tub had an extremely slow drain (12-hours to empty) but the water pressure is very low so it didn’t fill up too much. Made for less than great shower. We each only took one over the three nights. :( There was one roll of toilet paper in the entire house. The lightening is very harsh so we kept off the overhead lights and it was very dim. They definitely need a few dimmers. No screen on front slider. Unfortunately, wasps made it into the house when trying to get salt breeze in. Luckily the cob webs and spider that was on the ceiling was able to get one that was stuck.

Nice property, poor property management
The house was great and overall we had a great time. Communication was poor from the property management company (Hood Canal Hideaways). They never responded to emails. When talking with them on the phone, they were rude. We ran out of drinking water the first day and requested more with no response from the company. It was a shame considering the property was in a nice location and perfect for what we needed. We won’t be looking to book through them again.
