Perriman Cottage – Rustic Charm in the Heart of Daylesford
Step back in time without giving up modern comfort at Perriman Cottage, a rustic gem just a 5-minute stroll from Daylesford’s buzzing town centre. Wander down for dinner and drinks at one of the many nearby bars, cafés and restaurants, and stroll home under the stars — no need for a designated driver here!
The Space
Named after the property’s original titleholder John Perriman, this historic cottage blends 19th-century charm with relaxed country living. The original section, built in 1864, still features timber wall panelling, lined ceilings, and antique doors, lovingly preserved to honour its heritage. Around 1900, the front rooms were added — creating today’s comfortable living spaces.
Inside, you’ll find:
Bedroom 1: King bed with split-system heating/cooling
Bedroom 2: Bunk with a queen below and king single above
Bedroom 3: King single bed — perfect for a solo guest or child
We’ve kept the soul of the cottage intact, even repurposing salvaged floorboards into the handcrafted kitchen table and benchtop. The bathtub shows some rustic wear (a touch of clean rust staining), but it’s been acid-washed and spotless — a true nod to the home’s storied past.
Comfort & Convenience
Stay connected with NBN Wi-Fi, Netflix, and all digital TV channels. Please note the indoor wood oven and open fireplace are now decorative only — but the large backyard firepit is the perfect place to enjoy a starry country night. There’s also a paved outdoor dining area for relaxed alfresco meals and morning coffees.
What We Love
The 157-year history and authentic character
The quiet yet central location — walk everywhere!
The massive backyard and star-filled skies
The local cockatoos, who drop by daily — bring some wild bird seed, pop it out front around 3–4pm, and watch them flock overhead like a feathery parade.
The Vibe
Perriman Cottage isn’t polished perfection — it’s beautifully imperfect, filled with quirks, warmth, and stories. If you appreciate history, craftsmanship, and a touch of rustic romance, you’ll feel right at home here.
